Reminders for Veteran’s Hospital

Hi All!

Just a friendly reminder to have your children wear red, white, and blue tomorrow for our trip to the Veteran’s Hospital.  Also, each child and chaperone needs a bag lunch and beverage (no pop).  We do plan on venturing over to Belle Isle after the distribution of the fruit trays for a “picnic” lunch, a visit to the aquarium and some play time on their play structure.  It’s going to be another busy day.

I would like to share with you that your children did an outstanding job today preparing the fruit trays for our veterans. Such on task busy bees—we received numerous compliments from parents, volunteers and actual veterans that visited us today on their wonderful behaviors.  I gave them 10 stones for their reward jar!!!!!!!  Soooooo proud!!!!!!!  Looking forward to another very meaningful day, tomorrow!!!!

I also have to  send out an enormous thank you to our parents who were able to help with all the tray preparations today, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Dagher, Mrs. Motowski, and Ms. Ozuna,—-all the wrapping, tying, snipping, and lifting—-amazing!!!  A fabulous community effort—2,022 trays were created today.   A job well done!!!!!

Here’s to a memorable and appreciative patriotic deed!!!!!!

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke

Veteran’s Hospital Information

Dear DuVall Community,

Our annual Veteran’s Hospital trip is scheduled for Friday, May 10th.  This is a wonderful experience for both our students and parents, one that we all look forward to.  The success of this field trip relies on everyone’s help and community efforts to make it such a rewarding experience.  We will need parent volunteers to pick up fruit, cut cellophane, cut ribbons, fill the baskets, and drive the baskets to Veteran’s Hospital.  The schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday, May 8th: pick up cases of fruit from stores, markets, etc.

Thursday, May 9th: fill the fruit baskets all day

Friday, May 10th:  deliver the fruit baskets

This will be a busy time, but the more community members that become involved the more successful this trip will be.  A “Sign-Up Genius” will be coming out so you can sign up to help, but if it doesn’t come to you, you can still volunteer.  Please just tell the office, Mrs. Burke, Ms. Sims or your classroom teacher what you would like to do.

Please sign up on the Sign-Up Genius below:

Thank you!

Our Field Trip Has Been Changed

Hello Parents!

The field trip to the University of Michigan- Dearborn had to be cancelled because it is an outdoor field trip and we are supposed to have thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.

WE HAVE CREATED A NEW FIELD TRIP ON THURSDAY!  We are scheduled to go to Ford Lanes for bowling.  We are hoping that the same parent drivers will still be able to drive and chaperone for the field trip.  Unfortunately, we will have to collect $7 per student (they gave us a discount of $1!).

Please sign the new permission slip and send it with the $7 tomorrow!

Thank you!
