Busy Bees

Dearborn Public Schools

Hello Parents!!!

I hope your family and you are having a safe and happy summer!

Mr. Attee has asked that we share the following information pertaining to the option for online only learning…

Virtual Learning Program meetings

Dearborn Public Schools has launched its system for parents who want to opt-in for online only learning this school year through the Virtual Learning Program.

Every school building has a time the week of Aug. 11 to 14 when parents interested in the program can stop in and talk to the principal or other staff to get more information about the Virtual Learning Program program and to see if online learning is a good fit for their child. Those who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to email their principal or call the school building.

The hope is that every family intending to use the program will speak with a school official to ensure they understand what is needed for their child to be successful with online learning.  After that, parents will be able to complete a commitment form to officially switch their child or children to the online program.

Information about the opt in date for DuVall is:

DuVall

Thursday, Aug.13th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

How Many Points Can You Score?

Hello Parents and Kiddo Diddos,

Today should have been our pool day, a nice hot one to be jumping and splashing in the pools. I’m hoping your children are able to be in a pool or run through a sprinkler today, before it gets toooooo hot.

Under “normal” circumstances, we would have played a little game during this last short week, a tiny bit like Jeopardy and I am posting my remote version following this post. There is absolutely NO obligation for your child to partake, but it’s there if he/she wants to complete it. I’ve included some math and reading questions along with some silly dilly ones to jog memories about our classroom. I will reveal the answers Wednesday on another blog post. Let’s see how many points can be scored! Again, NO obligation.

Here’s to a fun, HOT day!!!!

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke 🙂

We Did It!!!!!

Hello Parents!

Here we are in our final 3 1/2 days of our second grade year. Concentrating on the positive—it’s almost officially summer and we all made it through this unforgettable experience. I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to spend our first 6ish months together in our classroom building a wonderful rapport with each of your children. Another positive, is that your children completed their remote learning with success due to your diligent support. For this, I thank each of you!! You did it!!!!! 🙂

We’re all looking forward to summer break and everyone deserves some great outdoor play and relaxation, but…

Please, please be sure your child continues to read, work/review in their math books (don’t forget those Sprints) and write (in journals) throughout the summer for added preparation leading into their third grade (hoping for a “normal start”).

Keep in mind that the following sites will be available to your children throughout the summer:

Readworks:

https://www.storylineonline.net

I believe that you can still have access to Epic (EpicFree) if you register for a parent account.

Please let your children know that I made a quick question game video for Tuesday—-How well do they remember Hive 108? and then a story video to rap up our unique year.

I put together a strand of class pictures that I had on my phone and I hope you will share them with your children. Many memories to reflect on, only wished I had taken more pictures throughout the year.

Welcome to Hive 108!!!

25 Wonderful children entered Hive 108 and the learning and memories began….

What a Great Day!!!

Hello Kiddo Diddos,

Such a wonderful smiley day we shared today!!!! Oh. it was so good to see many of you as you stopped by school to gather your school belongings. I loved all the smiles and I consider myself very lucky to have had the opportunity to see you before the summer begins.

It wasn’t quite the way school years are supposed to end, but by seeing a number of you sure made my day!!! I hope you enjoyed reading your stories in your bag and remember to keep reading and writing throughout the summer.

Hoping you found your little surprises and I want to say thank you for all my surprises and fantastic cards!!! I feel so special. Thank you!!!!

Have a happy evening—-almost bedtime????

Mrs. Burke:)
