A Thank You Idea

Hello Parents and Kiddo Diddos!

It’s Friday and I hope everyone is doing the best that they can!!!:) I know you are!

I had one of my idea moments—while listening to the news, there is continual mention of various people working diligently to help us through this crisis—physicians, scientists, nurses, truck drivers, stock workers, delivery men and women—all working so hard to keep our country operating as close to a new normal as possible.

So here’s my idea—-could each of you make a poster (on a large piece of paper, a cut piece of cardboard from a box, maybe use your chalkboard if you have one, or a chalk drawing on the sidewalk) saying a great big thank you. Decorate it with some of your wonderful artwork and post it on Facebook. Unfortunately, I’m not on Facebook, so I won’t see these, but maybe you can send me a picture of what you’ve done. I really think this would make a great many people smile and would make you happy, too!!!! If you like this idea, please pass it along to other friends and family members.

I am working on another one of my ideas and will let you know about that later. 🙂

Once again, please, do what you are comfortable doing. Know that I’m thinking of all of you!

Stay safe!

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke

Welcome Spring (11:50 pm)!

Hello Parents!

Spring is almost here…11:50 p.m. arrival time. Hoping all is going well under “these” circumstances.

I’ve been answering some parents questions via email and thought I’d extend some of my responses. Please, please, please don’t let my school schedule stress you out. Enrichment activities are most important now. Use some of my ideas from past posts or at the bottom of this one.

I would STRONGLY encourage keeping a journal (individual or family), sharing the writing experience with the entire family. Pass it round and write a few sentences, illustrations, cartoon, poems, etc…I’m sure it will become a valued piece of family history in years to come.

Your children are very familiar with Zearn, Read works, Raz Kids and Epic so have them utilize those. Khan academy (Clever site) is loaded with academic sites. All assignments can be done on paper—IF you child wants to send them to me on a google doc—great, but not necessary. I would like to read their reports (we’ve done these in class on google docs), so by all means send those to me. This assignment is extended to next week. Children enjoy learning new facts and new vocabulary, so researching a topic of interest is important.

Additional ideas:

*Painting

*Yoga, scarf dancing to music

*Share with family member a book you’ve read

*Make a little family skit/movie (Act out a book)

*Create a game

*Enjoy your family time!!!!!!!!!

Sending your little ones a huge smile and hug!

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke

Hello Kiddo Diddos!

Wow—I’m seeing a great deal of work being completed on Zearn and Read works, along with completed spelling assignments. Great job!!!! What do you think of multiplication? It may be a little tricky, but I know you’ll get it!

Remember to stick with a schedule—think of our’s at school. You could even make one of your own for your family and you to use. 🙂

Has anyone made a fort or a creation out of boxes, paper towel tubes, and other “stuff”? I had another idea—it’s called a diorama—You can use an empty shoe box and create a scene from any book that you have read by using construction paper or any small objects and glue them inside. Create away!!!!!

Remember to do your part at home, both with your school work and helping mom and dad. 🙂

Miss you! Be safe and HAPPY little busy bees!!!!!

Love,

Mrs. Burke

Blog check

Hello Parents!

Wishing this was just my usual weekly blog, but unfortunately it’s not. I’d like to begin by saying I hope everyone is staying safe and your children are good. That’s the most important! Please let them know that I said hi and am thinking of them.

Next, I need you to send me a quick email, letting me know that you are receiving my blog. We will be working together utilizing remote learning and I need to know that all children have access to future schedules and assignments–work is on it’s way!:)

Thank you so much!

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke
