June 1st- June 5th

Hello Parents!

Our June blog—-How can that “bee”? You did it and your children did it—we all made it to June!!! Yeah!!! Way to go!!!! We’re down to the last full week of our remote learning. I’m so proud of all of you!

A quick reminder that you may collect your child’s school belongings on Tuesday, June 2nd from 1:00-1:20. I will be there to help with the distribution, so I’ll keep my eyes open for your sweeties.

Please be sure to read your children’s various writing pieces that I’ve placed in your child’s bag. So awesome to note all the changes in their writing abilities. Also, I put a little “goodie” bag inside their white plastic bag. Please be sure they check those out. Thank you!!!:)

If your child has any library books at home, please be sure to return those on Tuesday. I found many of the library books in their desks and book boxes. I will try and send out a list of book titles that still need to be collected.

Our Final Full Week Hive 108 plans:

Reading: Epic (Father’s Day), Readworks (Summer themed), Scholastic News (Ice Cream) and Choice Selection

Totally Optional: A tradition in my class at this time of a regular school year has been to have my class perform simple plays with child made puppets. Everyone would create a simple puppet out of a paint stirrer or a ruler, paper, odds and ends for a variety of fun plays.

I searched for some short plays for students to use at home if they would like to carry on with this tradition. The site is: https://www.thewiseowlfactory.com/readers-theater-free/

Also, there is an Epic book that can be used:

I truly miss this end of the year activity, that your children would have had an opportunity to engage in. All the children are always so proud of their puppets and working together making backdrops and practicing their plays. Just a wonderful ending event for them. We would perform for the 2 kindergarten classes and first grade classes. So if your children are up to it, you may want to oversee this project, or even save it for a later time during the summer break. Just a thought. 🙂

Math: Continuation with Module 8 Fractions and an introduction to Time

Writing: Create a Father’s Day writing piece (see calendar)

Science: Mystery Science

Just a quick reminder, that all late or missing assignments may still be sent to me. I am working on report cards at this time and I want to make sure your children have the opportunity to complete those. Thank you!

Hoping to see everyone on Tuesday!!!! Enjoy your sunny day!!!! 🙂

Fondly,

Mrs. Burke
