Hello!
This past Friday we enjoyed our first field trip and it went very smoothly thanks to all your well behaved children and wonderful parent drivers/chaperones. Thank you for sharing your time with us!
Our busy last week of October:
Spelling: (Long i patterns): Our words are: try, fly, cry, dry, pie, die, lie, tie, mild, and wild. Our bonus words are: child, spy, and tried. Our silly sentence is: A mild child tried to fry a pie in that pan.
Reading: Continuation with non-fiction: main idea and supporting details along with utilizing text features to better understand the topic.
Math: Our mid-module 3 assessment will be this week. Please watch your child’s planner.
Writing: Final copies of our opinion pieces and then onto a persuasive writing piece. An assignment came home on Friday—Tom the Turkey. These are not due until November 4th, but certainly may come in sooner.
Science: Our class had fun sharing their Properties of Matter Projects. Some very clever ideas.
Tidbits:
*Thursday, October 31st: Halloween Party 1:00, Parade 2:00 Children are asked to bring their costumes in a bag and they will change into them after lunch.
*Wow—thank you for the great donations for our troops. We will continue to collect up to Nov. 4th.
*Candy collection for troops through November 1st.
*Friday, November 1st: Half day
*Tuesday, November 5th: No school, Voting Day
Happy Haunting!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
