Hello and Happy New Year!!!!!
Our first blog of 2019. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. I wanted to make sure I send out additional “thank yous” for all the “extras” before our break —drivers for movie field trip, all the donated items for our party/gingerbread houses, volunteers for that event and many thanks for all the lovely gifts (I did send home thank you notes, but sometimes they don’t always make it to their destination:). THANK YOU!!!!
Well, here we go—the first plans for 2019 in Hive 108:
Spelling: (ir, er, ur patterns) Our spelling words for this week are: ever, water, after, thirsty, bird, third, first, turn, sure, and burst. Our bonus words are: different, Thursday, and squirt. This week’s sentence is: After the pipe burst the thirsty bird drank some water as it squirted out.
Reading: Concentration will be on determining the author’s purpose (to entertain, persuade, or inform)
Writing: An informational piece of writing—-Inventions—each student chose an invention to research. Using a graphic organizer they will be gathering pertinent information and then begin writing a first draft for their report.
Math: Continuation of Module 4—Addition and subtraction to 200, along with solving related story problems
Science: Properties and Uses of Water
That should keep us busy for our first week back!!!
Again, Happy 2019!!!!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
