Hello Parents!
There sure was a great deal of excitement on Friday, our first SNOWFALL. We took advantage of the white “stuff” and made a mini snowman. I’m sure it’s the first of many to come.
This week’s plans in Hive 108:
Spelling: (long “e” with patterns “ee and “ea”) Our words are: queen, keep, speed, sheet, three, seat, mean, dream, clean, least and the bonus words are: scream, freeze and speak. Our sentence is: For one week three sweet queens had to keep their rooms clean.
Reading: Continuation with non-fiction and using text features and identifying the main idea/details to improve comprehension.
Writer’s workshop: We will be working on an informational piece of writing utilizing facts that we learned.
Math: Continuation with place value, number lines
Social Studies: Map Skills and maps related to our community
Tidbits:
From the DoVall Club: This year’s fourth annual Battling Against Hunger drive is a cooperative effort between Dearborn, Edsel Ford and Fordson high schools with help from the elementary and middle schools that feed into those buildings. We will be helping Edsel Ford with collections. The drive runs from Nov. 12-Nov. 16. The goal is to collect 30,000 canned goods for Zaman International and $7,600 for the Amity Foundation. The class that collects the most cans at DuVall will win a pizza party. Thank you for your help!
Please be sure to send your little ones to school with gloves/mittens. We do go outside and their little fingers are chilling up!!! Thank you!!!
That should do it for this week.
Bundle up!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
