Hello Parents:
I want to begin with the Tibits for Hive 108, so the calendar makes a bit more sense.
Spelling: Remains the same. Make sure your children practice the entire list of words—found in Monday’s column and click onto Spelling List.
Reading: Our topic this week and next week will revolve around History (our social studies unit) I will be assigning 2 Readworks (one non-fiction and the one fiction), a Scholastic News, an Epic book and then a free read (book of your child’s choice).
Math: Because all students have their math books, I will be assigning the application problem and the problem set page for the lesson. The exit ticket will need to be completed and that is the page I will require a picture of for credit. Zearn will be a parental choice for extra practice as with the homework page. Please reference the link (Embarc) for extra assistance in Monday’s column on the calendar.
Writing: This week I would like your children to choose one of their favorite books that they have read or listened to and write an opinion piece. I have included little videos on the calendar to follow. They need to include at least 3 reasons for choosing their book.
Social Studies: How Do Communities Change? Please begin this the day with viewing the video….It’s posted at the top of the calendar. Thank you. I will be including various videos showing Dearborn in the past, so please check the blog daily for some of those. I’m sure your children will recognize some of the the buildings found in their neighborhood and the changes that have occured.
We were scheduled for a field trip at the end of May to the Dearborn Historical Museum, so I will try to incorporate some of that material into the next 2 weeks for our History unit.
Under the social studies heading on the calendar I included a reference, Student Booklet. This can be used for the next weeks while studying Dearborn’s History.
As always, any questions, PLEASE ask!!!!
Here we go for another successful week!!!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
