Hello Parents!

Second grade is going by way tooooooo fast.!!!!! We’re just a day away from the first day of May!!!! Is there anyway to put on the brakes?  We’re going to be busy, busy, BUSY!!!!!!

Let me start with May events for your planning:

Tuesday, May 7th:  Science Challenge Night 5-6

Wednesday, May 8th:  Need volunteers to pick up donated fruit for our Veteran Hospital Project

Thursday, May 9th:  Volunteers needed for fruit tray wrapping in our classrooms

Friday a.m., May 10th:  Volunteers greatly needed to assist with delivery of fruit baskets to Veteran’s Hospital and chaperone at hospital

Friday, May 17th:  Detroit Science field trip, chaperones needed

Wednesday, May 22nd:  Spring concert 6:00 p.m.

Friday, May 24th and Monday, May 27th:  No School

Friday, May 31st:  DuVall Ice Cream Social

Now to our Hive plans:

Spelling:  More suffixes (ly, ness, ful and able ) Our words are:  friendly, slowly, likely, lovely, helpful, thankful, careful, kindness, darkness, likable and lovable.  Bonus words are:  softness, powerful and cheerful.   The sentence is:  A friendly giant walked through the darkness to find his lovable pet.

Reading:  Continuation with deepening comprehension within our fiction and non-fiction readings.

Math:  Arrays—a mid module assessment possibly on Thursday.

Writing: Poetry writing and printing some on the computer

Social Studies:  Economics
