Hello and Welcome Back!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break. Can you believe that we are in our last quarter of second grade and it will be a busy one?!!!!!
Here are some dates to put on your calendars:
Thursday, April 18th: An afternoon only field trip to the University of Michigan Dearborn Environmental Interpretive Center (PARENT DRIVERS WILL BE NEEDED)
Friday, May 10th: Veteran’s Hospital
Friday, May 17th: Michigan Science Center, Detroit
Thursday, June 6th: Field Day
Tuesday, June 11th: Levagood Picnic/Pool
Permission slips will be coming home for the field trips. Hoping we will have parent chaperones as needed. Thank you in advance.
I would like to extend my appreciation once again to all the parents who volunteered to read to our class during the month of March. We loved your book choices and enthusiasm for reading.
Now onto our week’s plans for Hive 108:
Spelling: (Compound words) football, everybody, grandmother, bedroom, anything, someone, something, playground, sunshine and birthday. Bonus words: downstairs, rainbow, and haircut. Our sentence is: Someone sang the Happy Birthday song while playing football on the playground.
Reading: Non-fiction—main idea and details
Writing: Completing our opinion papers—soon to be hung on our bulletin board
Math: Beginning the second half of Module 5—Strategies for decomposing tens and hundreds within 1,000 (subtraction)
Social Studies: Completing our unit on Dearborn’s History and then returning to Economics
That should do it!
Enjoy your week!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
