Hello Parents!
Oh my gosh—-our last school week before our winter break!!! Hopefully, no one is feeling frazzled–haha!!! Well our week is going to be a busy one, so hold on….here we go!
Spirit Week:
Monday: DuVall Wear Day
Tuesday: Ugly Sweater Day—if you don’t have one—you can design one with bows, cutouts taped on, etc…
Wednesday: Candy Cane Day—wear red and white or something with candy canes on it
Thursday: Pajama Day—-wear your pjs, but keep in mind we have a field trip to the movies
Friday: Holiday Day—Wear your favorite holiday attire
Other tidbits:
Thursday: Field trip to the movies—-ALL chaperones MUST have their I-Chat forms on file in the office by Wednesday, otherwise you may not attend, so please check on the status of those. (There are 4 classes attending this trip and we can’t overwhelm the office with last minute requirements!!!!!) Also, if you have volunteered to drive other children, first, thank you! Secondly, you MUST submit a copy of your driver’s license and car insurance to the office, also by this Wednesday. Thank you so much for your full cooperation with this.
Friday: Our Christmas Party: We will be having a small celebration in our classroom along with the assembly of our gingerbread houses(1:10-2:25) in the cafeteria. Mrs. Ferrell will be posting a Sign-up Genius for the needed candy decorations and other supplies. Donations are soooo appreciated by all our Busy Bees. The DuVall sing-a-long will take place from 2:30-3:30 in the gym. Hope you can join us!!!
Plans for Hive 108:
Spelling: “Bossy r” (ar and or patterns) Our spelling words are: park, sort, horse, short, porch, dark, storm, start, sharp, part. Bonus words: march, sport, party. Our silly sentence is : Let’s start to walk to the park before the party begins.
Reading: Compare and contrast
Writer’s workshop: We have completed our narrative gingerbread children stories, along with their decorated character. Be sure to read about the Dearborn adventures and fun facts about gingerbread. All will be up on our bulletin board this week. We will begin our information piece of writing with research, utilizing a graphic organizer.
Math: Module 4—Adding and subtracting within 200 and story problems to 100
That should keep us busy for our final week before the new year!
If I don’t see you this week, please have a safe and happy break. Enjoy the extra time with your family!
Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!!!!!
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
