Hello Parents,
I have a few thank ” you’s” to send out!!! First, thank you to all the parents who donated an item for our Halloween Party! Everything was yummy and the children enjoyed making their marshmallow/toothpick sculptures. Next, we had great news on Thursday—-We won the pizza party for having the most Box Tops. AWESOME!!!! The class was soooooo excited and happy! Watch your child’s planner to see which day we choose to have this. It will probably take the place of lunch, so your child will only have to bring a drink on the selected day. I will provide a little dessert. Again, thank you and keep those Box Tops coming in for round 2:)
Our Hive Plans:
Spelling: ( Long “o” with the ow, oe, oa patterns) Our words are: grow, crow, mow, low, toe, doe, goes, foam, soap, toast and our bonus words are: float, throw and roast . Our question is: Can the crow throw soap and toast as it goes home?
Reading: Continuation with non-fiction—text features and how they increase our comprehension of our topic. We will also reference to the author’s purpose.
Writer’s Workshop: Most authors have completed their final copies of their opinion papers—a few final touches and then they will be up on our bulletin board.
Math: Our mid module assessment will be this week, probably on Wednesday (no school on Tuesday).
Social Studies: We will be working on map skills
Our Hive Tidbits:
*Tuesday, November 6th—-No school
*Thursday, November 8th, Tuesday, November 13th and Thursday, November 15th—-Parent/Teacher Conference dates. Your child will be bringing home a reminder for you scheduled time. Looking forward to meeting with you!
*If you signed up to be a chaperone for our theater field trip (December 3rd)—-please be sure Cathy/Anne have a copy of your driver’s license and current car insurance.
That should do it for now.
Fondly,
Mrs. Burke
