Science learning

Students have been having fun while learning about science.
Kindergartners and first graders are learning the difference between toys and science tools.
Second graders are using different materials like plastic, paper, foil, and cardboard to create a house.
Third graders are exploring force and motion by testing Hotwheels on a track. They measure the distance the car travels when there is a different slope.
Fourth graders are testing a variety of materials to see if they attract to a magnet or not.
Fifth grade created towers using pipe cleaners and tape.

Welcome to a new school year!

I am excited to be teaching science to all the students at Miller. Each week your child will come to the science room where we will do a hands-on activity. The activity will be a science or engineering activity that enhances what they are learning about in their classroom science program.

This week we are learning the rules and procedures of the science classroom. The kindergarten, first, and second graders are challenging themselves to build cup towers. They are being encouraged to believe in themselves and try again when the cups fall over.

The third, fourth, and fifth graders will be working together in groups to make cup pyramids without touching the cups. They have to use the rubberband device to move the cups. They are working on using teamwork to accomplish a task.
