Third graders are learning about the bones in the body.

The first graders are outside this week drawing signs of spring.

The kindergartners are outside this week looking for living and nonliving things.

The fourth graders are measuring their bodies to help them understand the there are advantages to individual difference.

The fifth graders are creating food webs.

The 3rd graders have been learning about fossils. This week the act like paleontologists and dissect owl pellets. They were excited to find all the bones and try and figure out what animal they had.

This week in science-

Kinders are sorting living and nonliving things.

First graders are sorting animals by their body parts.

Second graders are creating a carrier to safely carry seedlings from one place to another.

Third graders are testing to see if they would be eaten by a dinosaur.

Fourth graders are learning how your finger moves and creating a model of a finger.

Fifth graders are learning about their carbon footprint.

The past few weeks, Miller has been learning about life science- plants and animals. We have quite a few living things in our building.

Kindergarten and fifth graders have worms that they are watching compost.

Kindergarteners also have goldfish, guppies and 2 different types of snails. They are comparing animals that are similar but still different.

Second graders are watching 3 different bugs go through a metamorphosis. Caterpillars, mealworms, and silk worms all change into something very different than what they began as.

Third graders have a pet crayfish.

Fourth grade have fish, mealworms, and isopods.

Fifth graders have caterpillars in addition to their worms.

kindergarteners are learning about living and nonliving things. They will explore real and not real worms.

First graders are learning how different animals have different body parts that help them move and survive.

Second graders are working on plants. They are learning how seeds travel in different ways.

Third graders are creating a model flower to show how bees pollinate flowers.

Fourth graders are creating a dog run using area and perimeter.

Fifth graders are continuing to create chain reaction machines. The are creating the end this week and need to now work in creating the middle.

Kinder- This week the Kinder students will be listening to a story about a school dog and then designing a school dog of their own.

1st- The first graders will be listening to the story When I was 5. They will be creating a dinosaur of their own.

2nd- They will be melting and cooling chocolate and butter to see if they have the same properties after changing states of matter.

3rd. The students will be looking at how habitats have changed over time and the evidence scientists have to prove their beliefs.

4th- They will be construction topographical maps and looking at how they are used to tell the height of mountains.

5th- They will be finishing their study of chemical reactions and beginning to explore how chain reactions work. Over the next few weeks, they will be creating a chain reaction machine.
