This week we will complete The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe in class.  A final comprehension test will be given on Thursday.  ** In addition, library books will be returned or renewed on Thursday.

Tomorrow in class, the district assessment will include an informational reading piece.

Feel free to call of email if you have any questions about grades & assignments on Parent Connect.  If there is missing or make up work, please have your child complete it by Wed or Thurs this week.  Any students with missing work were given a pass & note to come & make up their assignments.  The 4th marking period will end this week.

We will continue to work on reading comprehension, summary and CAFE 5 strategies.

Please check Parent Connect for any grade updates.  The final grade for the 4th marking period is due on March 14th.  If your child is missing work or has any unfinished assignments, then they were given a progress note today in class.  Students have until Thursday, March 13th to complete or make up any missing work.

** If the grade in Parent Connect shows C – or below, the students should bring home their note today!

Daily reading logs are due!  Please check to make sure your child is reading daily & having you check what they read.

*Homework ~ Character sketch descriptions are due Friday, Feb 28th.

*Quiz ~ Chapter 1-8 quiz on Friday, Feb 28th, The Lion, the Wtich & the Wardrobe.

Reminder:  Please read everyday over the break ~ log each day & sign off for your child.

Today — every student was given the opportunity to make up or finish any missing work.  Please look in the US Mail this week to see if there is a progress report sent home or check Parent Connect for an updated grade in Language Arts.

Mid Winter Vacation ~ No School ~ February 17th – 21st!!

This week we started a new novel in class ~ took a quiz & completed a district reading assessment.

Part of this week we are working on the District Writing Prompt in class.

*Wednesday, February 5th is library book return & check out!  Please bring back you books!

Also ~ be sure to turn in your January 2014 Daily Reading Log!!!  Progress Reports for the 4th Marking Period will be entered on February 14th.

Our 6th grade students were working on a 7 page vocabulary “foldable” book.  Please make sure they have their 7 definitions done & ready to turn in on Friday, Jan 17th.

This week we are working on personal narrative writing.

Hope you enjoyed your vacation & snow days!  Since we are back to school, reading logs will be due on Friday, Jan 10th.  We will also try to return & check out library books.  The 3rd marking period will end on January 23rd.  Please check parent connect and look for progress reports showing missing work before the marking period ends and grades are reported.
