Students are completing Language, Reading & Math NWEA Map testing this week.
Some students may benefit from drop in tutoring in either subject. Based on the January Map test scores students are encouraged to drop in Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3:05 pm to 4:30 pm ~ Room 29 in the 6th grade hall.
Please look for a blue note IF your child is encouraged to come! Notes will be sent home today for Math & Thursday for Language Arts.
Please continue to encourage your students to read each night, read to them or have them read to a sibling.

Our Language Arts class will take the NWEA Map Tests for reading & language on Tuesday & Wednesday, Jan 19 & 20.

My math classes will be taking the NWEA Map Test on Monday, Jan 11th.
Students are still encouraged to use Khan Academy @ home to practice / supplement their learning.
My Language Arts class will take the NWEA Map tests in reading & language on Tues & Wed, Jan 19 & 20th.

In Language Arts we will continue to analyze literature. This week we will work on “Jeremiah’s Song.”
Students will identify new vocabulary, theme, story plot & complete a writing prompt.
In Math we have begun using the order of operations /in equations with variables, constants & coefficients.
**This Friday, January 8th marks the 1/2 way point of the 3rd card marking. Progress reports will be generated at this time.
Final grades for the 3rd card marking – due Jan 29th.

OL Smith students will attend the OK2Say Presentation today. Please ask you child about the message when they get home.
Students copied the following problems for math homework:
p. 16 (in text) # 4-10 & #15-20 ORDER OF OPERATIONS
Please check their work & bring homework in Tuesday.
On Tuesday we will also have a basic fraction SLOT review quiz.
2nd HOUR ELA ~ Reading Logs are due @ the end of the week, Dec 4th!
Please check to see that students are reading daily & are ready to turn in their log Friday!
3rd & 4th Hour MATH ~ The district assessment will be given Thursday, Dec 3rd ~ Surface Area & Volume of Prisms.
****MY classes >>> Personal progress reports were given out before the break ~ any student with missing work or low scores in my room were given a note!
LANG ARTS 2nd Hour~
All students should come home with their Argumentative Writing Draft.
Please review their writing / make edits & write the final copy.
Some students were able to begin their final copy in class today.
The finished product is due Friday, November 13th @ the beginning of the period.
*All work should be finished at home tonight! We will not have time in class Friday.
LANG ARTS ~ we will continue to analyze argumentative text & write an argumentative paper, “Are video games helpful or harmful?”
** All papers will be due in class Thursday (or may be turned in Friday).
