SRI “Student Action Reports” were given out at conferences. Each student had a personal report that shows “lexile” reading level and specific strategies geared toward your child’s needs. If you didn’t make it to a conference, please ask your child for this report today (we will send them home). The paper is a personalized print out, some students may have a suggested reading list attached, look for the appropriate “lexile” level on the sheet for your reader.
*At the botom of the report you will see recommendations and strategies 🙂
It is suggested that if your child is below the 800 score, they should read at least 20 minutes per night (with an adult monitoring). This is an important time for every student to grow as a reader & increase their reading levels!!
This week we will finish reading the novel, Bridge to Terabithia. At the end of the book we will have a comprehension quiz. Please discuss the book with your child, any personal connections they might make and basic comprehension information.
Enter through the main doors this evening to pick up your child’s report card.  Your student will have a schedule for you to follow (a map is included to find the classrooms).
*Also, daily reading logs are due on Friday, November 1st.
Please note that Parent Conferences will be held on:
Monday, October 28 th from 4:30 to 7:30 pm
and
Wednesday, October 30 th from 3:15 to 6:15 pm
** Reports cards for the first card marking will be passed out at those times.

This week we will continue to read Bridge to Terabithia and draw information & meaning from text. On Friday we will have a basic comprehension quiz (basic facts from Chapters 1-6).
As you sign off on daily reading logs, discuss what is being read & ask questions about their books. I’m sure they will be glad to share their interesting novels!

We will have 2 more days of MEAP in the 6th grade, Monday & Tuesday ~ Oct 21 & 22. Continue to sign off on reading logs daily. We are currently reading Bridge to Terabithia in class. Feel free to discuss the novel with your child.
We are currently in the 2nd marking period of the school year. This 6 week / report card will end the last week in November.

New reading logs went home today. Please make sure your child is reading & logging everyday. Sign off as you see them read, the next log is due on October 31st.
* Reminder ~ No School on Monday – Wednesday ~ October 14 – 16. Students should have their “good fit” lexile library books over the break!
Please remember to log your reading daily. Logs are due Friday, October 11th. A new reading log will be given at that time. Please read over the break and on the weekends!!!
Each student that was missing work or had to turn in late work was met with personally. We have talked to each student to gather up any late or unfinished work as report card grades are due this week.
