Second grade students looked at pumpkins and drew from observation.  They colored their drawings with oil pastels, crumpled their drawings to make lines, and flattened their drawings.  They painted a mixture of tempera paint plus water on top of the oil pastels and wiped off the excess paint.  Students created a background for their pumpkins using metallic markers, construction paper crayons, and construction paper for grass.
