Third grade students practiced drawing from direct observation by looking at a pumpkin and drawing details they noticed.  They added color to their pumpkin drawings using warm color oil pastels.  They created a batik by crumpling their drawing to make wrinkle lines in their papers.  They painted over their pumpkin drawings using watercolor paint.
