5th grade students practiced drawing a three-dimensional cake with a piece cut out.  The missing piece became a value scale showing the lightness and darkness of one color.  Students practiced shading techniques with a pencil for the decorations on the cake.  The artwork was inspired by artist Wayne Thiebaud and Pinterest.
