Information and Homework for the Week

This week our homework will come home daily instead of in a packet.  We will have a math quiz on Wednesday which covers coins, word problems, skip counting and adding/subtracting using an open number line.

Monday-Read 20 minutes, Coin pages-math.

Tuesday-Read 20 minutes, Study for math quiz.

Wednesday-Read 20 minutes, Graphing homework-math

Thursday-Read 20 minutes, Computer practice on MobyMax lessons.

Over break-practice lessons on MobyMax and reading on Myon.

Literacy Night Monday, March 26, 2018

We will be have literacy night at Miller on Monday at 4:30-6:00  pm.  Everyone is invited (students please bring a parent with you) to participate in the many activities planned.  It will be a fun activity for all!!

Focus for the week of March 26, 2018

This week our second grade students will be working on:

Reading:  Students will ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.

Math:  Students will solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. For example: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have?  They will learn to count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.  We will also solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. An example would be: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have? 2NBT.2 Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.

Writing:  Students will work on informational writing.  They will work on editing, revising and publishing.

Science: Students will learn about plants and insects.  We will be reading to gain knowledge about these topics.

Social Studies:  Students will learn about resources to help us understand  about the past. They will be looking at an artifcat and discussing what we can learn from it.

Homework for March 19-23

The homework packet is brought home on Monday which includes all the homework listed below. The packet is due on Friday.

Monday-read 20 minutes, adding to find the total-coin caterpillar-math, spelling triangles.

Tuesday-read 20 minutes,  coin number stories and 3X each-spelling.

Wednesday-read 20 minutes,   spelling-rhyming,  coin combinations-math.

Thursday-read 20 minutes, skip counting-math and draw a picture and hide your words.

***Spelling and Math quiz on Friday.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday-read 20 minutes.

Social Studies:  Students will learn what features have changed over time such as travel, buildings, clothes, and businesses by looking at a chart and comparing to what we have today.
