The homework packet is brought home on Monday which includes all the homework listed below. The packet is due on Friday.
Monday-read 20 minutes, study guide-math, spelling triangles.
Tuesday-read 20 minutes, count by 3’s up to 121 to an adult, rhyming words spelling.
Wednesday-read 20 minutes, spelling 3x each, divide shapes in half-math.
Thursday-read 20 minutes, spelling scrabble-spelling-triangles, divide shapes into fourths-math.
***Spelling and Math quiz on Friday.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday-read 20 minutes.
Focus for the week of April 16, 2018
This week our second grade students will be working on:
Reading: Students will describe how reasons support specific points the author makes in a text.
Math: Students will partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
Writing: Students will work on informational writing. They will work on editing, revising and publishing.
Science: Students will learn about plants and insects. We will be investigating and discussing butterflies, mealworms/beetles, silkworm moths and brassica plants.
Social Studies: Students will learn about resources to help us understand about the past. They will be looking at an artifact and other information to learn and understand about the past. We will begin to discuss timelines and what they mean

Historical Museum Field Trip 4-13-18
Our class will be going to the Historical Museum in Dearborn on Friday morning from 9 am to 11:30am. The cost is $5.00 for both students and chaperones. Permission slips were sent home on the Thursday before break, please bring back as soon as possible.

Math: Students will Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.” They will add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
Writing: Students will work on informational writing. They will work on editing, revising and publishing.
Science: Students will learn about plants and insects. We will be investigating and discussing these topics.
Social Studies: Students will learn about resources to help us understand about the past. They will be looking at an artifact and other information to learn and understand about the past.
