Focus for the week of December 18, 2017

In second grade this week, we are learning about:

Reading:   Students will learn to acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud.

Writing:   Students will be working on narrative writing.   

Math:  Students will learn to fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.They will also represent whole numbers as lengths from 0 on a number line diagram with equally spaced points corresponding to the numbers 0, 1, 2, …, and represent whole-number sums and differences within 100 on a number line diagram.

Science:  Students will plan and conduct an investigation to describe and classify different kinds of materials by their observable properties.

Social Studies:  Students will be learning about laws in our community and how our government is set up and works.
