Focus for the Week of November 13, 2017

Our second graders will be working and practicing these skills this week:

Reading; Students will identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. They will learn to compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.

Writing:   Students will choose a topic of interest like:  community helpers; weather; animals; biographies; insects or mammals. They will work on finding and researching their topic and including it in their writing.

Math:  Students will learn to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.

Social Studies:  Students will continue learning about maps and map symbols.  They will learn about different forms of transportation and how this relates to school and home.

Science:  Students will investigate soil by learning how to make it and discovering how it is made.
