This week our second grade students will be working on:
Reading: Students will learn how to acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud.
Math: Students will learn to estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters. They will measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length differences in terms of a standard length unit.
Writing: Students will work on narrative writing. They will work on drafting, editing, revising and publishing.
Science: Students will continue to learn about plants and insects. We will be investigating and discussing butterflies, mealworms/beetles, silkworm moths and brassica plants. Students will be drawing, writing, comparing and contrasting the life cycles of insects and plants.
Social Studies-Students will understand that communities have to solve issues by taking sides on a community issue and giving facts to support their decision.
