This week our second grade students will be working on:
Reading: Students will learn how to compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topic.
Math: Students will partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
Writing: Students will work on opinion writing. They will work on drafting, editing, revising and publishing.
Science: Students will learn about plants and insects. We will be investigating and discussing butterflies, mealworms/beetles, silkworm moths and brassica plants.
Social Studies: Students will learn about resources to help us understand about the past. They will be looking at an artifact and other information to learn and understand about the past. We will beg
