The Weekend Already?

Well we wrapped up another fine week.  The students are working in groups preparing for and presenting how to correctly measure volume in three different ways.  We will continue with this next week and then work on three different measurement labs involving volume and mass.

A week from Monday (October 7th) will be the first test and will cover the measurement review that we have been working on for most of the school year.  This will mark the end of the MEAP review.

Tuesday October 8th will be the first day of MEAP testing.  Seventh graders will be testing in their 4th hours.

OPEN HOUSE

Wednesday, October 25th is Open House at Stout.  I am looking forward to meeting the families of my students.  It all begins at 5:30 pm in the Auditorium then parents walk through a shortened version of their child’s day.(10 minutes per class)  Hope to see you there.

Parent / Student Connect Updated

We have been very busy over the past couple of weeks.  There have been days in the computer lab learning about iBlog and iLearn.  The students have been reading and completing directed reading sheets and metric measurement worksheets.  We have also been working on measurement labs in class and taking a bit of notes while looking at a Power Point presentation.

All of this work has added up to quite a few grades that I have kept track of and inputted into the electronic grade book.  You can see these grades by logging into Parent Connect or Student Connect.

Have a great weekend!

First Week was a success!

Our first week went great.  We are all getting to know each other and the students are learning the procedures and expectations of 7th Grade Science.  Each student should have brought home a copy of an introduction letter along with a copy of these classroom expectations and procedures for their parents and guardians to read and keep for reference.  I have offered extra credit to the students if they bring back a parent/guardian signature to show that these papers were brought home.

In class the students are already working in groups, creating a poster and presenting on what scientists do.  They are also working in an activity trying to figure out how to balance 10 nails on the head of one.

Have a great weekend.

New Beginnings

I am very excited to be teaching 7th Grade Science at Stout Middle School this year.  I look forward to working with my students and their families toward a successful and rewarding school year
