Tuesday

Content Objective
Students will demonstrate comprehension of the reactants and products of photosynthesis by writing the formula while watching several animations and reading their text books.

P.EN.07.43 Explain how light energy is transferred to chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis.

Language Objective
Students will write to describe the reactants and products of photosynthesis by completing the following sentence frames:

“The reactants required to perform photosynthesis are ___, ____ and ___.”

“The products of photosynthesis are ___ and ___ .”

HOMEWORK – None

Monday

Content Objective
Students will demonstrate application of how to use microscopes including preparing slides by using the microscopes to observe human cheek cells.

S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (microscopes) appropriate to scientific investigations.
L.OL.07.21 Recognize that all organisms are composed of cells (single cell organisms, multi-cellular organisms)

Language Objective
Students will write and draw to describe their observations about their experiences while using the microscopes to look at their own human cheek cells.

HOMEWORK – None

Content Objective
Students will demonstrate application of how to use microscopes including preparing slides by using the microscopes to observe cells in onions and romaine lettuce.

S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (microscopes) appropriate to scientific investigations.
L.OL.07.21 Recognize that all organisms are composed of cells (single cell organisms, multi-cellular organisms)

Language Objective
Students will write to describe observations about their experiences while using the microscopes by completing the following sentence frames.

“While observing onion cells through a microscope I observed the cells were _____________ shaped.  I noticed that there were not any _____ because

the bulb of the onion grows ________________.”

“While observing lettuce cells through a microscope I observed the cells were _________________ shaped.  I was able to see ______________cells and                 _______________cells.”

Today we made sure that all students were caught up with all labs and assignments.  We also watched several video clips.

Friday

Content Objective
Students will demonstrate knowledge of how to use microscopes including knowing the names of the parts and how to use them by using them to observe items such as a typed letter “e”, salt, All spice, color newsprint, torn paper towel, human hair etc.

S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (microscopes) appropriate to scientific investigations.

Language Objective
Students will write and draw to demonstrate that they have accomplished focusing the microscope by creating drawings of what they observed through the microscopes.

HOMEWORK – None.  Enjoy your break and get recharged and ready for when we come back.

Thursday

Content Objective
Students will demonstrate knowledge of how to use microscopes including knowing the names of the parts and how to use them by taking notes while reading and watching a demonstration.

S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (microscopes) appropriate to scientific investigations.

Language Objective
Students will write to describe which parts of a microscope are used for magnification and which parts are used for focusing by completing the following sentence frames.

“To focus a microscope you first use the ___ then you use the ___.

“To increase the magnification while using the microscope you first use the ___, then the ___ and sometimes (with the teachers approval) you use the ___.”

“If you cannot get enough light through the scope you should check the ___, the ___ or the ___”
