Content Objective:

I can understand the concept of Classroom Norms of Behavior by completing a circle activity with the class.

Language Objective:

I can write to create a list of Classroom Norms of Behavior after completing a circle activity and discussing it with the class.

Wednesday – First Full Day

Content Objective:

I can understand the concept of observation by completing an activity with the class.

Language Objective:

I can write to define the term observation after completing the activity and discussing it with the class.

Today in class we took care of some of the beginning of the year activities such as creating a seating chart, discussing the Bell Work procedures and we began our first activity that involved making observations.  We also discussed the other classroom expectations and procedures.  Each student was given a copy to bring home (yellow) along with the (green) paper to be completed and signed by their parent/guardian.

HOMEWORK – Get the green paper completed by a parent/guardian.

8/30/17

We are almost there!  My new classroom is cleaned and ready for students.  I am excited to start a new school year, a new grade level, and a brand new Science Curriculum (NGSS).

See you next week!

Tuesday

Content Objective
I can understand how human activities impact habitats and climate and affect the survival of organisms by completing diagrams while using teacher explanation, video clips and my text book.

E.ES.07.41 Explain how human activities (surface mining, deforestation, overpopulation, construction and urban development, farming, dams, landfills, and restoring natural areas) change the surface of the Earth and affect the survival of organisms.
E.ES.07.42  Describe the origins of pollution in the atmosphere. Geosphere, and hydrosphere, (car exhaust, industrial emissions, acid rain, and natural sources), and how pollution impacts habitats, climatic change, threatens or endangers species)

Language Objective
I can speak to describe how human activities impact habitats and climate and affect the survival of organisms by discussing with their groups while creating a slide show.

HOMEWORK – Student Survey sent out by Mr. Oke

Monday

Content Objective
I can describe the causes of ocean currents and how they effect weather and climate by taking notes while using a video clip, teacher explanation, and my text book.

Language Objective
I can write to describe the causes of ocean currents and how they effect weather and climate by completing the following sentence frames.

The oceans currents are powered by the Sun, Earth’s _____ and the different _____ of water.

The two factors that effect the density of water are ___ and ___.

The densest water has high ___ and low___.

Climate scientists are concerned that if ___ the global ocean currents will slow or stop which would cause ____.

HOMEWORK – Study for Weather TEST Weather & Water Cycle Study Guide

1.The oceans currents are powered by the Sun, Earth’s  gravity and the different density of water.

2.The two factors that effect the density of water are temperature and salinity (saltiness).

3.The densest water has high salinity and low temperature.

4.Climate scientists are concerned that if the polar icecaps melt the global ocean currents will slow or stop which would cause cooling of Europe and North America and a new iceage.

Friday

Content Objective
I can describe how the different types of precipitation form as part of the water cycle by completing a diagram while using a video clip, teacher explanation, and my text book.

E.ES.07.11 Demonstrate, using a model or drawing, the relationship between the warming by the sun of the Earth and the water cycle as it applies to the atmosphere and oceans.

E.ES.07.81 Explain the water cycle and describe how evaporation, transpiration, condensation, cloud formation, precipitation, infiltration, surface runoff, ground water, and absorption occur within the cycle.

Language Objective
Students will speak to describe the different types of precipitation by discussing them with their classmates.
