The Greenhouse Effect  is the process by which gases in the atmosphere, such as water vapor and carbon dioxide, absorb thermal energy and radiate it back to Earth.

The Greenhouse Effect is a good thing because keeps in some of the Sun’s energy which keeps the Earth’s atmosphere warm even at night so that life doesn’t freeze and die.

The Greenhouse Effect can be a bad thing if it works too well and the Earth’s atmosphere gets warmer and warmer causing “Global Warming”.
