Content Objective
Students will demonstrate knowledge of the formula and the process for measuring density and how different liquids have different densities.

S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (spring scales, stop watches, meter sticks and tapes, models, hand lens, thermometers, sieves, microscopes, hotplates, pH meters) appropriate to scientific investigations.

S.IP.07.14 Use metric measurement devices in an investigation.

Language Objective
Students will discuss and write to gain a better understanding of how to measure density and how different liquids have different densities bycompleting the following sentence frames.

1.The formula used when calculating density is _________.

2.The density value for water is ____________.

3.When liquids that don’t mix are placed in the same container they form layers.  This is because  ________________________________________________.

4.Make a diagram (drawing with labels) of a cylinder with liquids of different densities:

HOMEWORK – Finish sentence frames if needed.

HOMEWORK – Study for test on the metric system (it will be next Tuesday 10/13/15
