Content Objective
Students will demonstrate knowledge of how the Metric System works and the units and tools used for density.
S.IP.07.13 Use tools and equipment (spring scales, stop watches, meter sticks and tapes, models, hand lens, thermometers, sieves, microscopes, hotplates, pH meters) appropriate to scientific investigations.
S.IP.07.14 Use metric measurement devices in an investigation.
Students will discuss and write to gain a better understanding of how the Metric System works and the units and tools used for density by reading an article, watching a video clip, completing a graphic organizer and completing the following sentence frames.
1.________ and _________ are tools used for measuring the density of regular shaped solids.
2.__________ are the units used when measuring the density of regular shaped solids.
3.________ and _________ are tools used for measuring the density of liquids.
4.__________ are the units used when measuring the density of liquids.
5.________ and _________ are tools used for measuring the density of irregular shaped solids.
6.__________ are the units used when measuring the density of irregular shaped solids.
HOMEWORK – Finish Sentence frames if needed.
