Census

Dear Parent(s),

Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.

For a better future of our city, schools, and students , please click on the link now and fill out the census. It only takes a few minutes from your time to make a difference.

BigBlueButton

Due to the difficulties we faced with using Google Meet, we will be switching to BigBlueButton. I have set up an iLearn class and have added each student. Times for the meetings will be the same. There will be one or two weeks where I will use a Google Form for the check-in until I have been trained on BBB.

Assignments & Check-Ins

Hi Students & Parents,

I will be assigning an XYZ assignment each week. Additionally, there may be Khan Academy assignments and/or worksheets. As far as students checking in with me, I will be using Google Meet for live Check-ins with students. I will send out the nickname for the Google Meet each week both on Google Classroom and on Remind. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, 1:00-1:40 – 1st hour

Tuesday, 1:00-1:40 – 4th hour

Wednesday, 3:00-3:30 – Makeup Check-in/Office Hours

Thursday, 7:00-7:30 pm – Makeup Check-in/Office Hours

Week of April 13-17, 2020

Hi all,

Welcome back from your fun & exciting Spring Break. How far did you travel? Me? I went all the way from my bedroom to my basement! Not completely true. I went for a few walks and worked in my backyard. I hope you and your family are healthy. Stay Safe!

As you have probably heard by now, assignments WILL be counted. We’ll know more about how all this works soon. Watch for emails from Mr. Martin.

Make sure to do the two assignments for this week. They are on Google Classroom. They are easy – quick check in on how you’re doing, and a second one on technology for the district.

Did you miss doing any assignments from the weeks before Spring Break? Go ahead and do them. Don’t worry that they will be “late.”

As always, you will be able to find all the assignments on my Google Classroom. I will also try to begin using Google Hangouts next week. More about that later.

XYZ Homework & Grades

For those of you regularly checking Google Classroom, you know that earlier in the week I set “exceptions” for each XYZ Homework assignment that we have done this semester. If you have not completed any of these assignments, I would urge you to do these over the next two weeks to improve your current grade in this class.

Additionally, the textbook company has opened the full textbook online so you can have access to the book as well as the videos. If you look at the ebook page for each section, you will see videos on the right side of the page. At the bottom of the videos section will be a Mini Lesson by Mr. McKeague (the author of the textbook). He sets up each problem and fully explains how to do these. For the word problems in section 4.4, he doesn’t solve the problems, but thoroughly explains how to set up the equations to be solved. The problems are solved by several different tutors. Each person has their own unique way of explaining, so you might check out more than one person’s video explanation to determine which one suits you best.

Stress & Anxiety Supports

Ms. Rumler has asked that we share the following with you. The first one is a short letter about stress and anxiety with supports in it. The second is a handout explaining ways to work through anxiety in an easy to understand format.

If there’s any way I can help, whether it’s just to talk to another adult who cares about you and your well being, please reach out to me on Remind. I care about each and every one of you, and know this is a challenging time for us all.

Be sure to check with my Google Classrooms to see assignments. I will send out a mass email for students to receive the code for Google Classroom. Parents, please check with your student to make sure they have joined Google Classroom.

Students, most of your assignments will be in XYZ Homework, so you can also check there for any open assignment. Don’t forget the videos. Be sure to watch those. Check the ebook for examples and notes.

I will send out a Remind when new assignments are posted. Parents & students are encouraged to join Remind.
