Tuesday, Sept. 3

Today in class the 8th graders read and annotated informational text about solutions to equations. Homework is to work toward completing the graphing stories project, which is due Friday, Oct. 6.

Today in class the 6th graders calculated unit price and compared prices in, “Buying Detergent”, in google classroom. The IXL 5.S.6 and 5.Q.6 were begun in class and should be completed at home if necessary.

Retake Dates -6th and 8th grades

Today the 8th graders got their first quiz on equations back.

The retake for this quiz will have two dates/times.

Option 1) Tuesday, Oct. 10 7:15-7:45 am

Option 2) Wednesday, Oct 11  3:05-3:35pm

To be eligible for a retake, ALL assignments, including IXL, must be completed and up-to-date.

Students must score below a 90% to take a retake.  All corrections must be made on the back of the quiz.

A parent signature on the original test is also required.

Monday, October 2

Today in class the 8th graders reviewed the real number systems and learned set notation. There is no homework today unless you need to complete Friday’s IXL A.S.13.

Today in class the 6th grade worked with partners and solved real-world problems using ratio tables in, “Ratio Tables Bookwork”. This should be completed at home.

Friday, Sept. 29

Today in class, the 8h graders took their equations quiz and continued to work on the narrative and table part of their project. Tonight’s IXL is A.S.13 form 95-100%.

Today in class, the 6th graders solved real-world problems involving unit rate. We began IXL 6.V.2 and 6.R.7 in class and they can be finished at home if necessary.

Thursday, Sept. 28

Today in class the 8th graders began their unit project called, “My Events Graphing Story” in google classroom. We will work on this in class over the next week. No due date has been announced. Tonight’s homework is IXL 8.Z.9  on reading graphs. Tomorrow is the 2 step equation quiz that involves equations with like terms, and the distributive property (just like the last few bellworks).

Today in class the 6th graders took an assessment on ratios so I can gauge their understanding before moving on. This was not something to “study” for.  Classwork/homework is called, “Buying Snacks”, in google classroom.

Wednesday, Sept. 27

Today in class the 8th graders analyzed a real-world data graph in, “High Tide”. We began IXL 8.V.6 & 8.V.7 in class and they may be completed at home if necessary.

Today in class the 6th graders created circle maps for ratios and rates in their interactive notebook. Homework is to revise yesterday’s assignment, “Ticket Booth”.

Make sure you have corrected the following:

1. Spell all numbers out.

2. NO personal pronouns.

3.  Each paragraph needs 3-5 sentences.

4. Use the word, “because”, in each response.

5. Do not say, “The calculator told me the answer.”

 

Tuesday, Sept. 26

Today in class the 8th graders finished their group project of matching graphs to stories and tables. Classwork/homework is in google classroom, called, “Analyzing Graphs Bookwork.” We will check this tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders watched a few short videos on rates and unit rates. Classwork was called, “Ticket Booth”, in google classroom. Today’s IXL is 6.M.4 on graphing integers on a number line. This should be completed at home over the next day or so. (There are NO official due dates on IXLs)

Monday, Sept. 25

Today in class the 8th graders worked in small groups to match distance-time graphs to real world scenarios. There is no new homework. Please continue to complete IXL 8.W.8, 8.W.10, and 8.W.12 for the upcoming quiz on equations.

Today in class the 6th graders worked on completing ratio tables and writing a CER paragraph in, “Frosting Cupcakes,” in google classroom. This can be completed at home if necessary. No IXL tonight:)

Friday, Sept. 22

Today we finished the NWEA Language Test!

8th graders need to continue working to complete IXL 8.W.8, 8.W.10, and 8.W.12 on equations for our upcoming quiz. Algebra class did not meet today.

Today in class the 6th graders created posters for pictorial models of equivalent ratios. They spent over 1/2 hour working on this in class. Some kids finished but a few will need to finish coloring over the weekend.  This is due Monday unless you are absent today. Please try to finish up IXL 7.J.6 from yesterday over the weekend.

Remember: Families come first! IXL comes after family time:) IXL due dates, along with all other assignments, are always flexible
