Thursday, Oct. 11

Today in class the 8th graders took note in their notebook about rate of change (slope) and how it looks in different forms. There is no new work assigned. Please catch up on missing work that is due by Monday (IXL 8.Z.8, A.J.8, Peaches and Plums, Functions Slideshow, and Solutions CER).

Today in class the 6th graders worked together to solve proportional problems in small groups. We will continue this in class tomorrow.  We also graphed ratios on a worksheet called, “Creating Tables and Graphs of Ratios”. We did half of the worksheet together and students should finish the 4 remaining problems at home.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

Today in class the 8th graders took their quiz on evaluating functions using substitution. Their homework is about slope on a graph in google classroom called, “Peaches and Plums”. Please finish bellwork, IXL A.J.8 at home if necessary.

Today in class the 6th graders learned about proportions and read a short text on aspect ratios. We began the homework assignment, “Tape Diagrams #2” together and they should have no more than 5 problems to complete at home.  Please be sure to complete yesterday’s IXL 7.M.5 at home if it is not done yet.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

Today in class the 8th graders worked with peers to compare their answers to yesterday’s “Solutions to Functions CER”, and revise their function slideshow. *The last day to turn both of  these in is Monday by 2:15.  Tomorrow is your quiz on evaluating functions using substitution.

Today in class the 6th graders practiced calculating and using unit price in IXL 7.M.5. Then they discussed/checked their answers to yesterday’s orange packet (lesson 4) with a partner. We learned about creating tape diagrams/bar models to solve problems with ratios on the worksheet called, “Tape Diagrams #1”. Please complete this worksheet and IXL 7.M.5 at home if necessary.

Monday, Oct. 8

Today in class the 8th graders are working on evaluating function rules using substitution in, “Solutions to Functions CER.” The rest of class was devoted to catching up on last week’s work, including IXL A.S.13 & 8.Z.8 and the Linear Functions Slideshow.  *Tomorrow is the last day to turn in Equation Quiz Corrections. *Monday is the last day to turn in Linear Functions Slideshow.

Today in class the 6th graders took their quiz on ratios.  After the quiz students began their orange packet on Lesson 4  p. 33-38. This should be completed at home tonight.

Friday, Oct. 5

Today in class the 8th graders worked on completing their slideshow and IXL A.S.13 before leaving for their field trip. These are both due Monday.

*Monday is the last day to turn in Evaluating Functions, Bike Ride, and Lesson 14 Questions.

Today in class the 6th graders checked their orange packet from Wednesday. They were assigned, “Frosting Cupcakes”, an assignment about comparing ratios and IXL 7.F.2. This is due Monday.

*Monday is the LAST day to turn in yesterday’s bellwork, “Rate, Unit Rate, and Unit Price”.

Thursday, Oct. 4

Today in class the 8th graders worked on their slideshows about functions, the follow-up to yesterday’s group activity. Slideshows are due Monday because of the 8th grade field trip tomorrow. Today’s IXL is A.S.13 on graphing linear functions.

*Monday is the last day to turn in Evaluating Functions, Bike Ride, and Lesson 14 Questions.

Today in class the 6th graders finished presenting slideshows.  Please make sure your bellwork is complete, you can finish it at home if you need to. We will check yesterday’s orange packet tomorrow since we ran out of time today.

Wednesday, Oct. 3

Today in class the 8th graders worked in groups to match function rules with their domain, range, table, and mapping diagram. They will continue this in class tomorrow. The only homework some students have is to finish last night’s Lesson 14 on solving equations.

Today in class the 6th graders continued presentations. Homework is to complete the Lesson 2 orange packet that most students began in class on unit rate.

Tuesday, Oct. 2

Today in class the 8th graders continued working with equations with no or infinitely many solutions. Homework is to finish today’s classwork, Lesson 14 questions.

Today in class the 6th graders continued presenting their slideshows about ratios. At home, please continue working to complete yesterday’s IXL 6.V.3.

Monday, Oct. 1

Today in class the 8th graders discussed and solved equations with infinitely many solutions in our interactive notebook. Homework is to complete today’s bellwork 8.Z.15 on substitution.

Today in class the 6th graders began IXL 6.V.3 on unit rates. Please finish this for homework. Then we began our presentations and peer evaluations. We will check Friday’s orange packet tomorrow!

Friday, Sept. 28

Today in class the 8th graders took their equations quiz and worked on completing yesterday’s Evaluating Functions. Today’s new assignment is called, “Bike Ride” in GC about reading graphs. This and Evaluating Functions are due Monday.

*Late work policy: Monday at 2:15 is the last chance to turn in “Discovering Unit Rate Investigation”, and “Is It A Solution?”.

Today in class the 6th graders worked on solving real-world ratio and rate problems in their Ready Common Core books. Homework is to complete as much of the orange packet p. 23-26 as possible that most of us began in class. We will be checking it on Tuesday. Presentations begin Monday.
