Monday, Oct 24

In class the 8th graders compared and contrasted the three linear forms.  Homework is to complete the PSF Book Work #1-18 that we started together in class.

In class the 6th graders sorted key math operation words into the operation they represent. Homework is IXL 6.Y.1 to 100%. Your Park Project is due TOMORROW! Late projects will lose points.

Friday, Oct 21

Today in class the 8th graders took a quiz on Real-World Linear Functions in Slope intercept form. Classwork was reading and annotating text about Point-Slope Form. Homework is IXL A.S.14. Finish anything you need to from this week over the weekend.

In 6th grade we are doing the last part of our Park Project. It is due Monday or Tuesday, whatever works best for your schedule. USE THE RUBRIC TO SELF EVALUATE!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Thursday, Oct 20

In class today the 8th graders practiced converting from Slope Intercept form to Point Slope Form. Homework is to complete the Objective Reflection (if not done in class) and IXL 7.Y.4 on the Converse of the Pythagorean Theorem.

In class the 6th graders took their common assessment. Continue your park project at home.

Wednesday, Oct 19

Today in class the 8th graders are graphing in standard form. You only have homework if you did not finish it in class. Friday is a quiz on Slope-Intercept Form. You can use yesterday’s IXL to study.

Today in class the 6th graders are drawing 3-D objects on dot paper. Their unit project was assigned and is due Monday. Tomorrow is the District Common Assessment.

Tuesday, Oct 18

Today in class the 8th graders worked in groups to convert Slope-intercept form into standard form and identify the graph, the slope, and y intercept.  You need to complete the group evaluation in GC.  Homework is IXL A.S.10 writing linear equations in SIF.

Today in class the 6th graders calculated volume using fractions. Their homework is IXL 6.EE.2 and 6.EE.3 about 3D figures. The district common assessment will be given in class on Thursday. It will cover what we have been practicing including area of 2D shapes by composing/decomposing and using formulas, and using the coordinate plane.

Monday, Oct 17

Today in class the 8th graders were graphing in Standard Form on the graphing calculators. Homework is to complete IXL 8.R.4 to 95-100%.

Today in class the 6th graders applied the volume formula by measuring candy and using decimals to calculate volume. Please complete IXL 6.FF.14 to 90% or greater at home.

Please Sign Up for Conferences

PLEASE ONLY PICK ONE SLOT! You should only create an individual meeting if you are having problems in that class.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled for Monday, October 24 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Wednesday, October 26 from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM.  The STEM team will be conducting student-led conferences rather than the traditional parent-teacher conferences.

The focus of the student-led conference is to allow your child to demonstrate his/her scholastic accomplishments.  As a parent/guardian, you can provide encouragement and help your child set goals for the remainder of the year.  You will also have the opportunity to display a positive interest in your student’s learning and to accept his/her self-evaluation of accomplishments.

Some of our goals for this conference format are:

  •         To help parents understand what is taking place in the classroom
  •         To communicate about student learning
  •         To accept ownership for learning and behavior
  •         To enhance organizational and leadership skills
  •         To build self-esteem through the development of self-confidence.

The conferences are planned to last approximately twenty minutes and thirty-five conferences may be scheduled at the same time.  We will be present for clarification or facilitation as necessary.  However, your student will be in charge of conducting the conference with you and it is important to honor the student’s commitment to that role.  Should you wish to confer with an individual teacher, we will schedule a follow-up conference.

To schedule your conference day and time, use the link above OR please visit the “STUDENT-LEAD CONFERENCES” page of the STEM blog and sign up for your time slot and room location.  There are two tabs on the spreadsheet, one for Monday and one for Wednesday. The room location is not teacher specific, it is just the place to access a computer and hold your conference – all teachers will be rotating through the rooms (elective teachers and core teachers).  It is important that you sign up prior to coming as there is limited space in each room at each time.  Also, please be sure to only sign up in spaces that are blank.
