Thursday, Nov. 3

Today in class the 8th graders converted their numerical answers into complete sentences using the context of the problem. If you need to finish your SIF Matching at home, you may! Tomorrow is a quiz on converting into SIF. You may practice IXL A.S.11 to study if you wish.

Today in class the 6th graders are using the distributive property to simplify expressions and are evaluating expressions in IXL 6.Y.3. A quiz on area of polygons will be next Wednesday, Nov. 9th. I posted an OPTIONAL assignment in Google Classroom to help you study.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

Today in class the 8th graders read and annotate informational text about slope and y intercept. They also had the assignment, “‘Linear Forms Word Problems,:” which should be finished at home if not completed in class.

Today in class the 6th graders investigated the distributive property. Homework is to answer questions 1-6 on the area worksheet.

Tuesday Nov 1

Today in class the 8th graders evaluated claim statements about rational and irrational numbers. IXL was PC.Q.1. There is only homework if you need to finish your tree diagram of examples.

Today in class the 6th graders practiced combining like terms. IXL 6.Y.13 should be completed to 95-100%. The “Objectives Reflection” should be completed, in class or at home, to show you are understanding what we are learning about.

Monday, Oct 31

Today in class the 8th graders reviewed rational and irrational numbers.  Homework is to answer the questions about today’s video in GC. You may re-watch the video at home if needed.

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed like terms and combining them. Homework is to complete the IXL 6.Y.6.

Math Retake Dates

Retakes will soon be available for the 6th grade common assessment and the 8th grade Linear Functions Test.

Test Retakes will be offered on the following dates and times ONLY:

Wednesday, November 9 @ 3-4 pm

Thursday, November 10 @ 7:15-7:50am

****A STUDENT WHO HAS ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A MATH RETAKE****

Friday, Oct 28

Today in class the 8th graders are reading tables and graphs and using them to write linear equations in 3 forms. They had a 1/2 hour of class to work the assignment.  Your only homework is to finish the remainder of the problems at home. Everyone will have a different amount because they work at different paces.  MOST of it should be completed already. Come see me Monday at 7:15 if you need help.

Today in class the 6th graders are combining like terms. Finish the Modeling Like Terms worksheet at home if you need to.  Come see me Monday at 7:15 if you need help.

Thursday, Oct 27

In class today the 8th graders used ordered pairs to calculate slope and represent equations points slope form and slope intercept form.  The homework is to finish IXL A.Z.6, which is about multiplying monomials and polynomials.

In class today the 6th graders used algebra tiles to represent terms and combine like terms. Please finish questions #1-4 of the Closet Organization Activity at home if you need.

Wednesday, Oct 26

Today in class the 8th graders are graphing, making tables and writing equations in Slope-Intercept and Standard Forms. Classwork was called, “Representing Linear Functions”. IXL A.Q.2  about domain and range is homework.

Today in class the 6th graders are practicing identifying coefficients, constants, and terms. Please complete IXL 6.Y.4 about evaluating a variable expression to 90% at home.

Tuesday, Oct 25

In class the 8th graders are practicing writing equations and graphing in Point-Slope Form. Classwork is #19-30 in GC. IXL homework is A.S.20, graphing in PSF is due tomorrow.

In class the 6th graders are writing Algebraic Expressions using key operation words. IXL 6.Y.2 (90%) is due tomorrow.
