Today in class the 6th graders are working on factoring with variables and distributing to simplify.  You may finish “Advanced Factoring and Distributing” at home if necessary.

Wednesday, Nov. 30

Today the 8th graders took their linear functions assessment. Homework is to complete IXL 8.CC.14 and make sure your project map is COLORED!

Today the 6th graders worked on simplifying algebraic expressions by combining like terms. You can finish this at home if you need to.

Tuesday, Nov. 29

Today in class the 8th graders made scatter plots to represent the text we read yesterday.  Please complete IXL 8.Z.10 tonight. You have a quiz tomorrow on linear functions.

Today in class the 6th graders found volume of rectangular prisms with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Please complete IXL 7.R.11 tonight.

Monday, Nov. 28

In class today the 8th graders read a current event article that will lead us into our statistics unit.  Please complete the 4 paragraph close and critical analysis at home if you need to.  We will have a quiz on Wednesday, Nov. 30 that covers linear functions. You may use the study guide we checked today to study if you wish.  The quiz is for the NEXT marking period to allow for retakes.

In class today the 6th graders worked in groups to solve a real-world volume problem and agree on one “best solution”. Homework is to complete IXL 6.K.11 on multiplying mixed numbers.

Tuesday, Nov. 22

Today in class, the 8th graders are reviewing for an upcoming assessment by completing, “Relation & Function Practice WS”. Your quiz will be after break, I will let you know exactly when. IXL is 8.F.8 on the Product Rule of Exponents, due by Monday.

Today in class, the 6th graders reviewed GCF and LCM. IXL 7.R.9 is factoring and distributing. IXL 6.E.7 is GCF. Please make sure these are completed by Monday.

Friday, Nov. 18

In class today the 8th graders solved real-world Pythagorean Theorem problems, #1-20. Homework is to complete Task 4 of the Water Park project using the Pythagorean Theorem.

In class today the 6th graders are solving a Volume question to learn how to use a CER (Claim/Evidence/Reasoning) in math. Your homework is to complete only the LEFT side of the CER paper.

Thursday, Nov. 17

Today in class the 8th graders graphed and compared lines in Standard Form. Homework is to complete the IXL A.S.16 and A.S.17 if they are not already complete.

Today in class the 6th graders used the distributive property to simplify expressions with a partner.  We also simplified expressions using the order of operations in IXL 6.O.3. Please complete it at home if not done at school. Your 3D park project designs are due by 3:00 tomorrow!

Wednesday, Nov. 16

Today in class the 8th graders looked at some examples of exponent properties. Their only homework is to make sure they are caught up on the Water Park project (yesterday’s homework was Task 3) and last week’s IXL 8.Y.11.  NO NEW HW!

Today in class the 6th graders did a peer evaluation and self-evaluation of their 3D projects to make sure they are complete before submitting them, since there are no redos on projects. The project will be due on Friday in case you are behind or were absent! Late projects lose one point. Tonight’s homework is to complete the factor trees in GC.
