Today in class the 8th graders worked to find the break even point for start-up businesses on the worksheet, “STEM-ersion”. Then we began IXL A.Y.2 to prepare for tomorrow’s quiz on multiplying exponents. There is also a quiz Friday on solving systems.

Today in class the 6th graders finished giving their presentations and then worked to complete the city map picture from yesterday.  You may turn this in on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. We will review finding area of rectangles and triangles tomorrow and take our quiz on area this Friday.

Monday, Feb. 26

Today in class the 8th graders learned about calculating a break-even point. The assignment is called, “Substitution Word Problems” in google classroom. This is homework if it is not done at school. Please make sure you are done with last week’s IXL 8.F.8. There is a quiz on solving systems on Friday!

Today in class the 6th graders presented their projects from before break. Then we began a small graphing assignment that is NOT homework. We will continue both presentations and the project in class tomorrow. NO Homework!

Friday, Feb. 16

Today in class the 8th graders worked in groups of their choice to complete the systems pennants hanging around the room. They are also posted in google classroom if you need to finish them over break. The IXL is 8.F.8 on the product rule of exponents. There will be a quiz on the product rule after break.

Today in class the 6th graders read and annotated an article, “Longitude and Latitude,” in google classroom to compare the coordinate plane to the earth. The IXL is 6.N.7 on adding integers (NO CALCULATOR). Since we had an assembly during 6th hour, these students are not responsible for reading the article of the week:)

Over the break, please make sure your science project boards are in progress!

Thursday, Feb. 15

Today in class the 8th graders continued working on “Substitution Bookwork”. We will check this in class tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders finished their projects. We will begin presentations the Monday after break. They also worked with a partner on the worksheet, “Finding Distances and Area of Polygons”, to find the area of triangles and rectangles, and practice sketching 3D figures. Please finish this at home.

Wednesday, Feb. 14

Today the 8th graders explored college and university options with the counselor, Mr. Kemian,  through the dearborn schools website link to “Career Cruising”.  We will continue with your regularly scheduled math class tomorrow:)

Today in class the 6th graders continued working to complete their projects from yesterday. Projects must be submitted by Friday! Then they began today’s IXLs 6.N.2, 6.N.9, & 6.N.11 on integer operations. No calculator on these IXL.

Tuesday, Feb. 13

Today in class th e8th graders learned how to use substitution to solve a system of equations. Classwork/homework is called, “Substitution Bookwork” #5-16.  Please work on completing yesterday’s IXL 8.F.6 & 8.F.7.

Today in class th e6th graders began their group project on the distributive property. This is classwork, not homework. We will continue this all week in class. Tonight’s IXL is 6.N.1 on integer chips.

Today the 8th graders finished their midterm exam. The IXL 8.F.6 & 8.F.7 on negative exponents should be completed at home tonight if it was not completed in class.

Today the 6th graders took their quiz on the distributive property. Classwork after that was to complete Thursday’s IXL 6.FF.3 on triangles before working on IXL 6.FF.7 and, “Juneau, Alaska” in google classroom. You may read the directions for tomorrow’s project, but do not begin it at home.

Thursday, Feb. 8

Today the 8th graders took part 1 of the final exam. Homework is IXL A.S.14 on comparing linear functions.

Today the 6th graders took video notes on the distributive property and completed “Distributive Property Part 2” in class. Finish this at home if necessary. The IXL for tonight is 6.FF.3 on triangle area. You will have a quiz on the distributive property on Friday (or Monday if there is a snow day).

Wednesday, Feb 7

Today in class the 8th graders finished yesterday’s assignment on parallel and perpendicular systems.  I have assigned som OPTIONAL IXL to study for the final exam. These will NOT be graded.  The final is tomorrow and Friday. If we have a snow day Friday, we will take the second half of the final on Monday.

Today in class the 6th graders wrote a paragraph to explain how to graph on the coordinate plane in, “Mumford the Moose.” The IXL is 6.X.3 on coordinate planes.

Tuesday, Feb. 6

Today in class the 8th graders wrote equations for lines that are parallel and perpendicular systems in, “Parallel And Perpendicular Systems”. We will finish this in class tomorrow.  I posted another copy of the study guides in case you would like to practice before your final. We will spend tomorrow catching up on missing work and I will assign some IXL that will help prepare you for the midterm.

Today in class the 6th graders began working on the geometry unit by completing the worksheet, “Area of Triangles” with a partner.  Please finish this at home if necessary.
