Monday, March 12

Today in class the 8th graders explored real world exponential growth in, “Multiplying Cells,” and worked to complete last week’s IXL 6.Z.1 & 6.Z.6.

Today in class the 6th graders worked to create a floor plan of a college dorm room. They found the coordinates and area of all furniture in their dorm room. This is NOT homework, we will complete this in class tomorrow. Please make sure IXL 6.FF.6 from Thursday is complete (95-100).

Friday, March 9

Today in class the 8th graders learned about polynomial vocabulary and practiced identifying parts of polynomials in, “Parts of a Polynomial.” The IXL for this is A.Z.1 (Score 95-100).

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed characteristics of quadrilaterals by taking notes. Please finish up yesterday’s IXL 6.FF.6 by Monday:)

Thursday, March 8

Today in class the 8th graders got their systems quiz back. they worked together to make quiz corrections. Then they analyzed other’s work on, “Worked Examples: Multiplying Polynomials”.  This is homework if it is not done in class. Please make sure Monday’s IXL A.Z.6 is complete.

Today in class the 6th graders got their area quiz back. Then we found the area of, “Irregular Polygons,” by decomposing and composing them into triangles and rectangles. The IXL is 6.BB.6 on composite figures. This can be completed at home if necessary.

Remember: Science boards are due tomorrow!

Wednesday, March 7

Today in class the 8th graders began learning about exponential functions by reading the picture book, One Grain of Rice. Homework ios to complete the IXL from Monday A.Z.6.

Today in class the 6th graders worked with partners to decompose and compose polygons to find their area. The assignment in Google classroom is called “Herb Gardens,” and “Compound Shapes.”

Tuesday, March 6

Today the 8th graders took the PSAT and did a wonderful job. Everyone took it very seriously in my first hour class. Please complete yesterday’s IXL A.Z.6 for homework.

Today the 6th graders practiced finding area in, “Area Practice,” and worked on missing assignments. We will check “Square Roots Bookwork,” and “Area Practice,” in class tomorrow.

Monday, March 5

Today in class the 8th graders took their quiz on systems of equations. Homework is IXL A.Z.6 on product rule and distributive property.  NO class tomorrow because of PSAT testing.

Today in class the 6th graders took their quiz on area. Then they watched a short video and took notes on square roots. Today’s classwork was called, “Square Roots Bookwork”, in google classroom. Please finish this at home if you need more time:)

Thursday, March 1

Today in class the 8th graders wrote to explain what they know about systems in, “3-2-1 Systems”. Then we began IXL 8.AA.5 & 8.AA.8 to review for tomorrow’s quiz on systems. You may stop at 60%.

Today in class the 6th graders worked to measure their boats by finding the surface area of the boat. Then we began IXL 5.BB.5 & 7.AA.2 on parallelograms to prepare for tomorrow’s quiz.

Remember, all work is due Friday by 3:00pm. To take any retakes in March you must have all work turned in!

Any work we did today is NOT due by Friday because a few students were absent. I will not grade today’s work until Monday.

Wednesday, Feb. 28

Today in class the 8th graders took a quiz on the product rule of exponents. Classwork was called, “Gym Memberships” about solving systems with graphs and tables.

Today in class the 6th graders learned about finding the area of a parallelogram. Then we began the study guide for Friday’s quiz on area. Today’s IXL is 5.BB.4 about parallel lines in polygons.  Finish these at home if necessary.

All work for the first half of the marking period is due by Friday!
