Friday, Sep. 6 & Monday, Sep. 9

I have had a guest teacher in my classroom for the last few days while I was out of town. Students were assigned interactive videos to complete and a few IXL. They may continue to complete them this week after completing NWEA assessments.

This is what was assigned:

8th grade: IXL 8.W.1 & A.I.7 on solutions of equations

6th grade: IXL 6.R.1, 6.R.3, 6.R.4, 6.R.5 on writing ratios and equivalent ratios

7th grade: IXL 7.C.1, 7.C.3, 7.C.4, 7.C.6 on integer addition and subtraction

Thursday, Sep. 5

Today in class we began setting up our interactive notebooks. You will need to bring this to class each day.

Students (from all grades) only have homework if they didn’t complete yesterday’s CER, Which One Doesn’t Belong?” in google classroom. Please make sure you actually submitted it!

Tuesday, Sept. 3

Today in class all grades wrote their first math CER (claim, evidence, and reasoning) paragraph of the year! This will be one of many.

The 8th graders continued their fold and cut project where they are learning about how the brain grows as it learns from mistakes. Please finish up those summer IXL!

There is no official homework unless you would like to put any finishing touches on your classwork or have missing IXL.

Thursday, August 29

Today in class the 8th graders began a group task that we will be using to help design our group norms to have the “Ultimate Classroom”.

Today in class the 6th and 7th graders presented their math/art posters that answered the question, “How can I use math to help live my best life?” We also analyzed open-ended mathematical patterns to write and discuss what we notice and wonder about them.

7th & 8th grade: Please complete any leftover summer IXL by Tuesday or you will be signing yourself up for learning center. They have been graded and student connect is up to date. Email me as you complete missing IXL.

Wednesday, August 28

Today in class we joined Ms. Bissonette’s google classroom, which is where all assignments will be housed this year. 6th graders received their IXL logins so they can begin using the website. 7th and 8th graders were given some time to work on unfinished summer IXL.

The 8th graders presented their art/math project from yesterday, and the 6th & 7th graders will present theirs tomorrow in class.

There is NO homework unless you need to finish the classwork from today or summer work.

Tuesday, August 27

Today in class all grades were introduced to the inquiry cycle, which we will be using to guide our project based units. We began an art/math project about how we used math over the summer to help live our best life!

Students are learning about critiques and giving positive feedback to improve their work.

There is NO homework:)
