Monday, Nov. 11

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL A.S.3 on reading slope from graphs. Then they worked in small groups to complete the orange task cards about rate of change and initial value in real-world context. They are posted in google classroom in case you need to finish at home. We will check these tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.M.7 on ordering integers. Then they took their open note quiz on percent applications.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 8.A.9 on classifying types of numbers. Classwork is the Real Number Sort. We will finish this tomorrow. There is no homework except IXL.

TGIF, Nov. 8

Today in class the 8th graders presented their MathemaFISH project, and will continue on Monday. We are working on providing meaningful feedback to our peers through critiques.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.F.8 on graphing decimals. Then we checked yesterday’s task cards. We had a cross-curricular day where we measured our cereal boxes from STEM APPs class to calculate the volume and surface area. You will have a quiz on applying percents next week, it will be “open note” where you may use your worksheets and notebook.

Today in class the 7th graders were given time to complete IXL 8.V.13 on the distributive property. Then they had class time to finish yesterday’s p. 383-384. Today’s classwork, which needs to be finished at home, is called, “Add & Subtract Rational Numbers,” in google classroom. Your quiz on operations with rational numbers (Lesson 6 & 7) will be next week sometime.

Thursday, Nov. 7

Today in class the 8th graders had a session with Mr. Kemian about college and career options. Their homework is to continue to explore the website careercruising.com

Today in class the 6th graders worked with partners to complete percent word problem task cards. These are posted in google classroom for absent students. Today’s IXL was 6.P. on graphing rational numbers.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 8.V.13 on the distributive Property. Then we checked yesterday’s bookwork worksheets. Today’s assignment is p. 383-384 (scanned in google classroom) from their textbook on rational number operations (No calculator).

Wednesday, Nov. 6

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL A.S.2 on calculating slope from tables. CLasswork was to critique each others task cards before resubmitting. Then we worked on the assignment, “Paying the Rent,” which is due tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders solved percent problems on the peacock worksheet from yesterday, and the questions are posted in google classroom. The checked the worksheet and turned it in for a grade. You only have homework if you have missing assignments dated Nov. 4-6.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 7.R.11 on the distributive property. Then they were given the entire hour to work on two worksheets I copied out of their math book on lesson 6 & 7. These are both due tomorrow!

Monday, Nov. 4

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL 8.Z.14 on writing equations in slope intercept form. Then our classwork was to work with partners and analyze real world situations for slope and y intercept in context. It was called, “Pink Desk Cards” in google classroom. We will compare our ideas Wednesday with a new partner.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.M.6 on comparing integers . Then our classwork was to work with partners and analyze real world situations for “Proportions Task Cards”. We will compare our ideas Wednesday with a new partner.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 7.A.11 on classifying numbers. Then we took our lesson 5 quiz on converting a fraction to a decimal with long division. There was a short video to watch and take notes on after to review dividing fractions.

Friday, Nov. 1

Today in class the 8th graders were given a work day to complete the following: IXL A.Q.12 from this week, Pumpkin Pi CER from yesterday. and Two Truth One Lie about rational numbers. A.Q.12 is on this marking period. Everything else will go on the next.

Today in class the 6th graders were given a work day to complete the Pumpkin Pi CER from yesterday and classwork called, “Two Truths One Lie”, and . These will go on the next marking period.

Today in class the 7th graders were given bellwork called, “Two Truths One Lie”. Then we checked the work we have been accumulating over the week. We also took notes on how to finish solving the equations at the bottom of the coloring worksheet by showing work on scrap paper and stapling it to the worksheet. You may complete this at home if necessary. These will go on the next marking period.
