Today in class the 6th graders were given bellwork called, “Halloween Algebra.” Then we investigated the relationship between the circumference and diameter of pumpkins! There is no homework unless you need to finish Jack Skellington.

Today in class the 7th graders were given bellwork called, “Halloween Algebra.” Then we investigated the relationship between the weight and cost of pumpkins! There is no homework unless you need to finish yesterday’s worksheets!

Wednesday, Oct. 30

Today in class the 8th grade was assigned IXL A.Q.12 on analyzing word problems. Then we inquired about the cost of pumpkins by graphing a piecewise function. Homework is to complete the IXL to 90.

Today in class the 6th grade was assigned IXL 6.S.9 on percents. Then we inquired about the cost of pumpkins by graphing linear function. Homework is to complete the IXL to 95. Jack Skellington is due by tomorrow.

Today in class the 7th grade was assigned a worksheet called, “Converting Fractions using Long Division.” This quiz is MONDAY! Homework is to complete the back of yesterday’s coloring worksheet on combining like terms, a review from last year.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

Today in class the 8th graders were given a “work day” to catch up on the following:

IXL 8.W.11 on equations, yesterday’s critique reflection, slope assessment paragraphs revision, and Mathemafish. Mathemafish is due tomorrow!

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.M. on opposites. Then a few students made some corrections on yesterday’s quiz. All students were given their graph of Jack Skellington. This is due Wednesday or Thursday, whatever you need:)

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 7.H.4 on rational numbers. Classwork was called, “Identifying Rational Numbers,” in google classroom, and the worksheet, “Simplifying Expressions Mystery Picture” (front only with colors). Please finish the front at home. Show your work on the paper or do it in your head (no calculator).

*Wednesday at 2:15 is the last day to turn in ANYTHING LATE, including IXL, from this marking period.

Questions about a specific assignment, just ask:)

Monday, Oct. 28

Today in class the 8th graders were given more time to complete IXL 8.W.11 on solving equations, which is now homework. Then we spent the hour giving feedback to each other for one more chance to improve our slope assessment. Your homework is to write a quick reflection on which critiques you used to improve your paragraphs. Then re-submit it!

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.M.2 & 6.M.3 on graphing integers. Then we took a quiz on adding and subtracting decimals. 6th graders that were absent will just take it when they return to school. There is no homework unless you are catching up on absent work.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 7.I.10 on square roots. Then we took notes on types of numbers in our number system. There is no homework unless you are catching up on absent work or the (late after 2:15) Halloween project.

*Reminder: ANY AND ALL LATE OR ABSENT WORK/IXL MUST BE TURNED IN BY WEDNESDAY AT 2:15 FOR THIS MARKING PERIOD. Any project assessment due this week will go on the NEXT MARKING PERIOD.

Friday, Oct. 25

Today in class the 8th graders began IXL 8.W.11 on equations with variables on both sides. We will finish this in class Monday. Then we introduced our final slope assessment called, “Mathemafish”. We will continue working on this monday and also be critiquing each others before submitting them. Please make sure your Slope written assessment is turned in by tonight! The LAST possible day to turn it in is MONDAY !

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.M.1 on integers for bellwork. Then they worked in pairs to complete p. 132-137 from the Ready Common Core Book. IXL 6.X.3 on quadrants was also assigned and can be completed at home.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned Ready Common Core p. 42-45 to complete in class. I copied it onto a worksheet since we do not have the textbook. Your Halloween project is due by Monday, and you will receive one summative point off for each day it is late. It will not be accepted after NEXT Monday. Since we have been working on this for two weeks, and you have had multiple opportunities to peer critique your CERS in class, there are NO REDOS!

Thursday, Oct. 24

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL A.S.1 on linear functions. Then they completed their HOYVUX journals. Then they were given a text on invasive species to read to create background knowledge for our end of slope unit project. There is one CER question to answer after reading their informational text. Your slope sentence assessment is due tomorrow! It will not be accepted after Monday.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 7.J.9 on proportions. Then we continued the worksheet from yesterday on the percent proportion. Keep this as a study guide for your next quiz! Classwork is called “Test Scores”, where students answered two real-world questions about percent test scores. You only have homework if you need to complete IXL.

Today in class the 7th graders had no IXL and were given the entire time to answer their Halloween project CERS.

*The 7th grade Halloween graph and 3 CERS are due MONDAY! 1 point will be taken off for every day it is late, and it will not be accepted after the following Monday. Two students who were absent have been told they get an extra few days:)

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Today in class the 8th graders were given more time to complete IXL 8.Z.4 on rate of change tables. Then they had class time to continue writing their slope assessment. This is technically due FRIDAY. We also completed a worksheet and journal on graphing horizontal and vertical lines. We will check the worksheet tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.S.6 on percent word problems. Then they tool notes on the percent proportion and began the worksheet called, “Percent Proportion Word Problems“. This is not homework, we will continue it tomorrow.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 6.N.7 with no calculator on adding integers. Then they watched a short video on the difference between similarity and congruence to help them do their Halloween CERS. Classwork is in google classroom called, “Converting Fractions to Decimals: Long Division Practice.” You must show your work on paper and write complete sentences to get credit. Halloween project is due Monday!

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL 8.Z.4 on calculating rate of change from tables. Then they had all hour to work on their written assessment about yesterday’s slope project. We will continue this in class tomorrow. Please finish IXL 8.Z.4 at home.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.S.5 on percent of a number. Use a calculator if you would like. Then they worked with partners to complete p. 2,3, 44-49 in their math book. Please finish IXL 6.S.5 at home.

Today in class the 7th graders were assigned IXL 7.H.12 on integer addition & subtraction. Then we checked Friday’s worksheet before beginning Lesson 5 on terminating and repeating decimals using long division. Please finish IXL 7.H.12 at home.

Monday, Oct. 21

Today in class the 8th graders were not given any new IXL. They had time to work on missing ones. Then we began an inquiry slope partner project. Your homework is to finish the old IXL A.Q.13 and 8.Z.15.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 7.J.11 on proportions. Then we completed Lesson 5 on percents. Your only homework is to complete the IXL with a calculator!

Today in class the 7th graders had more time to complete IXL 7.R.6 on absolute value. Then we spent all hour working on our Halloween graphs. There are 3 CER’s to answer in google classroom. The picture, spreadsheet, and questions are due MONDAY!

Friday, Oct. 18

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL 8.Z.15 on evaluating functions. Classwork was to self-critique yesterday’s, “Comparing Speeds.” Then students began, “Interpreting rate of change”, where they analyzed different graphs for slope in context. Some kids may need to complete the IXL at home.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.S on percents models. Then we began lesson 5 on percentages. You have no homework unless you need to complete IXL.
