Christmas Thank-you!

Wow, STEM!

I am completely overwhelmed by the  generosity of our families.  Thank you for the kind gifts, they mean so much to me:)

I am so glad to be a part of the STEM family, working with wonderful staff and families to create a great learning environment for our students.

Enjoy your Holiday break and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2019.

Friday, Dec. 21

Today in class the 8th graders practiced graphing systems of linear inequalities on the worksheet, “Solving Systems of Inequalities”. Then they received the next part of the study guide for the final exam in February. Please complete this over break.

*Perimeter Story Problems was collected today but can still be turned in the Monday after break:)

Today in class the 6th graders were given bellwork IXL 6.M.5 on integers, which was completed in class. Then they had the rest of the hour to work on their Santa graph from yesterday. I collected it at the end of class and you have no homework over break.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Thursday, Dec. 20

*All work form 2018 is due by 2:15 pm on Friday. I will not be accepting emails over vacation.

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL 8.AA.4 on graphing systems of equations. Classwork was a worksheet called, “Perimeter Story Problems”, that should have been completed in class unless you were in band and missed class.  Then students had time to complete missing work. Students got their quizzes on Standard Form back. Corrections are due after break. Please complete yesterday or today’s IXL at home if it is not done.

Today in class teh 6th graders were assigned IXL 7.B.5 on comparing integers.  The we checked yesterday’s worksheet on decimal operations.  Classwork is a Santa Graph worksheet. We will work on this in class tomorrow because it is due by 2:15 Friday. Quiz corrections can be made over break.

Wednesday, Dec. 19

*STEM reminder: All 2018 work is due by Friday at 2:15. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!

Today in class the 8th graders were given time to do missing IXL. Then they worked in groups to determine when to use braces, bracket, and parenthesis to represent domain and range in, “Domain & Range Match and Sort”.  Please finish your reflection at home. This is due tomorrow!

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned IXL 6.O.6 on the order of operations with decimals.  Classwork was a worksheet called, “Gifts From Grandmas” on decimal operations. Finish these at home if necessary. They are due tomorrow!

Tuesday, Dec. 18

*All work from 2018, including IXL, are due Friday by 2:15 pm.

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL A.U.2 on graphing systems.  This is your only assignment, please finish it up at home.  Class was short because of an assembly.

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed how to divide decimals by completing pages int heir Ready Common Core book.  Bellwork was IXL 6.M.4 on graphing integers.  Students were given back their quiz on lesson 8&9 and may make corrections over break. You have no homework unless you need to complete missing work.

Monday, Dec. 17

Today in class the 8th graders learned how to graph linear inequalities on a coordinate plane. Your homework is to finish today’s bellwork 8.AA.2 on graphing systems of equations.

Today in class the 6th graders worked with partners to complete the worksheet, “Multiplying Decimals”. Bellwork was IXL 6.U.5 about multiplying decimals with no calculator. Please complete either of these at home if necessary.

Friday, Dec. 14

Today in class the 8th graders took their quiz on standard form. Bellwork was IXL 8.Z.13 on substitution. You have no new homework over the weekend. Just catch up on missing work or finish today’s bellwork.

*Monday is the LAST day to turn in Picking Apples and Jim’s Gym.

Today in class the 6th graders were assigned some problems in their Ready Common Core textbook about multiplying decimals. They also had IXL 6.M.2 on graphing integers to complete. There is no new homework unless you need to finish any bellwork or missing assignments.

*Monday is the LAST day to turn in the Orange Packet for Lesson 8 and Long Division Worksheet!

Thursday, Dec. 13

Today I attended a professional development and had a guest/substitute teacher.

Today in class the 8th graders were assigned IXL A.U.1 on systems of equations for bellwork.  Classwork was also about systems and was called, “The Shoe Problem/Video Games”, and a worksheet called, “Sketch the Graph of Each Line” on standard form. Tomorrow is your quiz on Standard Form.

Today in class the 6th graders had IXL 6.M.1 on integers for bellwork. Then they took their quiz on division and adding/subtracting decimals. You have no homework unless you need to complete yesterday’s IXL 6.H.2 on multiplying decimals.

Wednesday, Dec.12

Today in class the 8th graders took notes int heir interactive notebook on graphing systems.  Classwork was called, “Intro to Systems Bookwork”, and a worksheet called, “Solving a System of Equations by Graphing#1”. Please make sure your study guide from yesterday is complete.  You have a quiz Friday on standard form graphing and using the calculator to find the correlation coefficient from a scatter plot.  IXL A.S.16 & 17 were assigned Monday & Tuesday to prepare you for this quiz.

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed how to multiply decimals using IXL 6.H.2 to 90%.  No calculator is allowed.  We also checked Monday’s division worksheet to prepare for tomorrow’s quiz.

Tuesday, Dec. 11

Today in class the 8th graders had IXL A.S.17 for bellwork on standard form.  The classwork was called, “Picking Apples”, in google classroom on graphing systems.  Students also received part 1 of the study guide for January’s midterm exam. We will check this tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders had IXL 4.D.4 for bellwork on multiples of numbers. The classwork was pages 92-96 in their Ready Common Core books.  Homework is to make sure yesterday’s division worksheet is complete so we can check it tomorrow.
