Wednesday, May 16

Today in class the 8th graders reviewed 3 types of factoring by watching a video and taking notes. Then they began the study guide for the final exam on exponential functions. I will post the answer key to the study guide in google classroom by Friday.

Today in class the 6th graders completed page 1 of their packet, “Effects of An Outlier” and worked on missing work that is due by Friday. The packet is NOT homework unless you didn’t finish page 1 in class.

Tuesday, May 15

Today in class the 8th graders took notes on the three quadratic forms and classwork was called, “Solve Quadratic Equations” about finding x intercepts. We will check this tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders learned about how outliers can affect the mean, median, and mode. Classwork is called, “Choosing the Most Appropriate Average”. Please continue to complete yesterday’s Labrador Puppies assignment and Friday’s IXL 7.CC.1.

Monday, May 14

Today in class the 8th graders took their quiz on polynomial multiplication. Classwork was, “Zero Product Property #1-18”.

Today in class, the 6th graders got their quizzes back and may sign up for the retake session on May 24 after school. Classwork is to listen to the video on symmetry and skewness of data displays to answer some questions. Then complete “Labrador Retriever Puppies” to create box plot and describe the skewness of the data display.

Friday, May 11

Today in class th e8th graders took notes on factoring to find roots of quadratic functions, and reviewed polynomial operations because the quiz is moved to Monday! Please complete missing IXL A.Z.4 & A.Z.10 over the weekend.

Today in class the 6th graders analyzed a data set and created box and line plots to represent the data in, “Average Number of Siblings.” Today’s IXL is 7.CC.1 on mean, median, mode, and range with integers.

All late work is due Friday, May 18.

Thursday, May 10

Today in class the 8th graders reviewed for tomorrow’s quiz on polynomial addition, subtraction, and multiplication.  Then we worked to complete yesterday’s worksheet, Applications of Parabolic Functions, using desmos.com. Please continue working on IXL A.Z.4 & A.Z.10.

Today in class the 6th graders took their last geometry quiz! Today’s IXL is 7.R.5 on absolute value AND 6.GG.14 on line graphs. You must finish yesterday’s IXL 6.HH.3 before beginning today’s IXL.

Wednesday, May 9

Today in class the 8th graders learned how to factor quadratic functions for bellwork and applied a parabola to the real-world situations of rocket launching and basketball.  Please continue working on  IXL A.Z.4 AND A.Z.10 from earlier this week. They will prepare you for Friday’s quiz on polynomials.

Today in class the 6th graders took the school improvement survey to help make STEM a better place:) Then we worked on completing any missing work. Today’s IXL is 6.HH.3 on statistics. Your quiz on surface area and volume is moved to Thursday (tomorrow).

Tuesday, May 8

Today the 8th graders went on the field trip to U of M, D.  Their only assignment is IXL A.Z.4 from yesterday, and A.Z.10 to prepare for Friday’s quiz on polynomials.

Today the 6th graders worked to calculate the surface area of prisms and solve real-world problems in, “Surface Area Bookwork”. We will check this tomorrow.  Please continue to complete IXL 6.FF.14 & 6.FF.15 on surface area and volume for your quiz Friday.

Monday, May 7

Today in class the 8th graders continued using the graphing calculator to find solutions to quadratic equations. Classwork was to continue Friday’s assignment #43-52.  Then we began IXL A.Z.4 on polynomial addition. You have a quiz Friday on polynomial addition, subtraction, and multiplication (see bellworks & IXL).

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed calculating volume and surface area for Friday’s quiz. This classwork is NOT homework. Today’s IXL is 6.FF.14 on volume. Please complete last week’s IXL 6.FF.15 before beginning the new one.

Friday, May 4

Today in class the 8th graders used graphing calculators to find roots of quadratic functions. Classwork is called, “9.2 Exercises #1-26.” We will check this Monday. Please make sure Thursday’s IXL A.Z.9 is complete. Email me when you finish because it is graded.

Today in class the 6th graders worked together to find the surface area of rectangular prisms and explained their thinking by writing a CER paragraph. Tonight’s IXL is 6.FF.15 on surface area.
