Friday, March 16

Today in class the 8th graders analyzed other’s work in “Worked Examples” for the exponent rules. This may be completed at home if necessary.

Since the 6th graders had a field trip today, not all classes met. There are two IXL assigned in google classroom. Please try to complete them by Monday. You will have a quiz on area of quadrilaterals soon! You may stop both IXL at 90.

Thursday, March 15

Today in class the 8th graders took notes on Exponential growth functions and began the bookwork in google classroom. We will check this tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders took notes on Quadrilateral characteristics and used geometric marks to show congruence and parallel sides. NO homework!

Wednesday, March 14

Today in class the 8th graders graphed an exponential function with an initial value of 25, rather than 1. The IXL for today is A.V.5 on the quotient rule of exponents. Please make sure yesterday’s IXL are complete.

Today in class th e6th graders created their own polygons to meet specific requirements for area and shape in, “24 Square Units”. PArt of this assignment is on graph paper, but the other part is an editable document in google classroom.  You may take your dorm room home to color and turn it in later if you would like me to hang it up.

Tuesday, March 13

Today in class the 8th graders wrote a function rule, and a table, and a graph to model a real-world situation in, “Bacteria,” and then began IXL 8.F.9 on the quotient rule of exponents and A.Z.5 on combining like terms.

Today in class the 6th graders took notes on finding the area of a trapezoid. The IXL is 5.BB.6 on identifying trapezoids. Please make sure your dorm room design is complete by tomorrow.

Monday, March 12

Today in class the 8th graders explored real world exponential growth in, “Multiplying Cells,” and worked to complete last week’s IXL 6.Z.1 & 6.Z.6.

Today in class the 6th graders worked to create a floor plan of a college dorm room. They found the coordinates and area of all furniture in their dorm room. This is NOT homework, we will complete this in class tomorrow. Please make sure IXL 6.FF.6 from Thursday is complete (95-100).

Friday, March 9

Today in class the 8th graders learned about polynomial vocabulary and practiced identifying parts of polynomials in, “Parts of a Polynomial.” The IXL for this is A.Z.1 (Score 95-100).

Today in class the 6th graders reviewed characteristics of quadrilaterals by taking notes. Please finish up yesterday’s IXL 6.FF.6 by Monday:)

Thursday, March 8

Today in class the 8th graders got their systems quiz back. they worked together to make quiz corrections. Then they analyzed other’s work on, “Worked Examples: Multiplying Polynomials”.  This is homework if it is not done in class. Please make sure Monday’s IXL A.Z.6 is complete.

Today in class the 6th graders got their area quiz back. Then we found the area of, “Irregular Polygons,” by decomposing and composing them into triangles and rectangles. The IXL is 6.BB.6 on composite figures. This can be completed at home if necessary.

Remember: Science boards are due tomorrow!

Wednesday, March 7

Today in class the 8th graders began learning about exponential functions by reading the picture book, One Grain of Rice. Homework ios to complete the IXL from Monday A.Z.6.

Today in class the 6th graders worked with partners to decompose and compose polygons to find their area. The assignment in Google classroom is called “Herb Gardens,” and “Compound Shapes.”

Tuesday, March 6

Today the 8th graders took the PSAT and did a wonderful job. Everyone took it very seriously in my first hour class. Please complete yesterday’s IXL A.Z.6 for homework.

Today the 6th graders practiced finding area in, “Area Practice,” and worked on missing assignments. We will check “Square Roots Bookwork,” and “Area Practice,” in class tomorrow.
