53. riot: A noisy and sometimes deadly uprising

55. challenge: To question if something is right or wrong; to invite someone to fight

1. Compete: to fight for the same thing

2. trade market: places to sell and buy things

3. colony: a country that is controlled by another country.

4. independence: when a country is free from colonization

5. alliances: a group of countries that are friendly with each other.

6. unite: to bring together

7. Empire:a country and all of its colonies

8. rebellion: to go against the government

9. tension: bad feelings; problems
