  1. nomads البدو: people who travel looking for food
  2. oasis واحه: a fertile place in a desert
  3. vision رؤية: message from God
  4. angel ملاك: a person from the sky
  5. polytheistic المؤمن بعدة آلهة: believing in more than one god
  6. monotheistic توحيدي: believing in only one god
  7. dangerousخطير: not safe or something that will hurt you
  8. flee هرب: run away
  9. journey رحلة: a long trip

  1. Great Depression الكساد العظيم: a time when the United States had the worst economy and 25% unemployment.
  2. outcomes النتائج: results
  3. dictator الدكتاتور: a ruler who controls a country
  4. dictatorship الديكتاتورية: a country ruled by a dictator
  5. forbidden ممنوع: illegal; not allowed; prohibited
  6. rejected رفض: refused, to say no
  7. Fascist: a group of people who believe war and military power is good for a country
  8. inflation التضخم: the increase in the price of goods.
  9. democracy الديمقراطية: a government where citizens elect the president and have freedom.

Econ 2.1 Vocab

New Chapter means New Vocab!

  1. Economic System النظام الاقتصادي: how a nation uses its resources to satisfy its people’s needs and wants.
  2. Society المجتمع: a group of people in an area
  3. Traditional Economy الاقتصاد التقليدي: use of scarce resources are based on customs, ritual, or habits
  1. Advantages المزايا: something good/positive/helpful
  2. Disadvantage العيب: bad/negative/hurts
  3. stagnation: not changing
  4. Command Economy قيادة الاقتصاد: central authority (government) makes all major economic decisions
  5. restricts يقيد: stops
  6. bureaucracy: government does everything
  7. Market Economy اقتصاد السوق: the people make their own decisions for their best interests
  8. Market – السوق: place where buyers and sellers exchange goods and services
  9. Capitalism الرأسمالية: where citizens own the factors of production and decide their use (private businesses)
