31. pull factors: things that attract you to a country

32. push factors: things that make you leave a country

33. Pilgrims: the first English people who came to America in 1620

34. Contract: agreement

35. loyal: friendly

36. governor: ruler

37. strict: serious or not changing

38. press: newspapers, radio, news

39. trial: deciding in a court if someone is innocent or guilty

40. publish: writing information in a book or newspaper

41. criticize: to say the bad things about a person

Reconstruction Chapter Vocab

1. Reconstruction: the time after the Civil War when the country was being rebuilt.

2. Rejoin: join again or be a part of

3. unemployed: does not have a job

4. Employed: has a job  العاملين ل

5. earn: make

6. free: do not have to pay

7. representative: a person who works in the government and represents the citizens.

8. amendment: a law that is added to the Constitution.

9. Constitution: the laws of a country.

10. 13th amendment: slavery was abolished and it became illegal.

11. 14th amendment: all African Americans are citizens and have equal rights.

12. 15th amendment: African American men can vote.
