Math Homework needs to be submitted

Today I taught students how to submit their math homework. Students circled the problems to complete in their book during class and I also listed the assigned problems in the Schoology math course. Students will take pictures with their computer of the assigned problems they completed and upload them to the assignment and submit.

We will be discussing the math homework at the beginning of math class tomorrow, so it is very important for students to do the math homework so they are prepared to come with questions and to participate in the class discussion.

Daily To-Do lists are posted in Homeroom

In the Homeroom course there is a To-Do list folder. Inside you will find a folder for each week with To-Do lists for each day. The To-Do list in addition to checking “student progress” for green check marks in each course folder can help students stay organized and current on their class work.

Office Hours for Parents

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 1:00 – 1:30 I am available just for parents. If you would like to schedule a meeting, have a question, would like to walk through navigating Schoology, please schedule a time with me! This is right as our afternoon session is ending, so if you would like to jump on the Zoom call before I end the session, I am happy to meet with you that way as well.

Reading Groups begin Monday!

Starting Monday, Reading Groups will be following the schedule posted below.

The whole class will still be meeting everyday 8:55 – 10:25. The groups meeting during ELA will meet during the independent reading portion.

Please check the day and time carefully, most groups are meeting everyday. Please be on time, teachers have a limited time with each group before the next group starts.

This information is also posted in Schoology. If you are in Ms. Alshafey’s group, she has her own Zoom link posted in the ELA folder with the other Zoom links.

Today’s to-do list has posted

Students should be using their Learning Lab time in the afternoon to complete assignments. If students have questions or want help with assignments they can join me between 2:00 and 3:50 today.

The video I posted in my previous post will not play here unless you are logged into a Dearborn Schools account. I also posted the video in Schoology, so you can watch it there as well. The video shows you how to check and see your child’s grades and assignments turned in.

Questions about parent access to Schoology

I created a video showing a way to look at grades and assignments in Schoology. Please check it out and let me know if you have questions or if I can help in any way. Click here to watch the video:

Not mentioned in the video:

  • During morning ELA time I provide time for independent reading and assignment completion. This is when I place kids in their own breakout rooms so I can meet with kids individually. It has come to my attention some kids are using this as a break instead of a 30 minute work session.
  • I will be finishing reading assessments during Learning Lab time this week. Each student will get a scheduled 15 minute session.
  • Any class work that does not get completed during class time should be completed during the Learning Lab time in the afternoon. Any work not completed by 3:50 should be completed as homework.
  • Reading groups will be starting soon. Some reading groups will meet during the learning Lab Times.
  • Math groups will be scheduled during Learning Lab time as well.
  • I am required to enter attendance twice a day. Once before lunch and once after lunch. Unfortunately, I have to mark students absent who do not show. If your child has an excused absence, please call the office to report it.

5 Easy-to-Follow Etiquette Rules for the Zoom Classroom:

  • Be prepared at your workspace, sitting up ready to learn, have your supplies and books ready. Turn off all other electronic devices, NO phones, NO games, NO TV.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Your teacher and classmates can also see BEHIND you…
  • Mute is your friend… mute yourself until you are asked to unmute.
  • Raise your hand and wait to be called upon.
  • If you don’t have anything nice to say… DON’T SAY IT!

Happy Friday!

We made it through our first full week.

The to do list for today has posted in the updates on my Homeroom. Please check the list and check assignments to make sure there are no missing or overdue assignments. It is my goal to get caught up on grading this weekend and I hope everyone is all caught up so you aren’t hearing from me about missing assignments.

We will continue with NWEA testing Monday afternoon at 2:00. Students will join the afternoon Zoom Learning Lab link.

As always, please send me an email if you have any questions.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs. Bennett
